Root access is required!

Clean install is important! Don’t install together with OpenGapps, MindTheGApps, NikGApps or any other similar app.

If you have an A / B type of device, you must install GApps in the second Slot.

Now you can proceed with installation:

Flash the Custom ROM you want to install.

Reboot.

Install the corresponding version of BiTGApps for the firmware version you’re planning to use. This is important because each version of Android has its right version of BitGApps installation package.

Reboot.

Tips: In case of bootloop, you’ll need to install the BiTGApps right after ROM flashing before booting into the system. If previously bought apps are now disappeared, just clear the app data.

If you own Xiaomi Mi A2 and you want to root, unbrick, backup, factory restore, or even camera2 enable your device, Mi A2 Toolkit is the software that you need. Mi A2 Toolkit is a custom created software tool by the developer Daha3ker, specifically for Mi A2 devices. Its main purpose is to help advanced users to quickly and easily achieve their goals in customizing their devices and adding extra features.

What is Mi A2 Toolkit and its main features?

This custom developed software is compatible only with Windows operating systems. Mi A2 Toolkit is tested and works perfectly with the Mi A2 Global variant with firmware version 9.6.10.0 (Android One August update).

From experiencewe have with Mi A2 Toolkit, there shouldn’t be happening any problems. However, before using this software, keep in mind that the developer or weare not responsible for any potential damage caused by you while using this software. Now, here is what Mi A2 Toolkit can you use it for.

Enable Camera2 API – This feature works on rooted as well as on unrooted devices. Unrooted devices will have temporary root then will automatically revert back. This allows OTA’s to install. However, if in some case it can’t be installed we are not responsible for that. There is always a risk when modifying system files.

Restore and Backup options – This only works for user and system data. You still need to back up your sd card to prevent losing data from it.

Attempt unbrick – This feature will try to unbrick your device without deleting your data.

Reboot options – Includes exit fastboot, as well as reboot to fastboot and edl modes.

Lock bootloader (OEM flashing and critical)

Revert to stock ROM(August update)

Unlock flashing critical

Unroot Mi A2 devices

Root Mi A2 devices

Unlock flashing

Enter fastboot

Launch TWRP

Unlock OEM

How to Use Mi A2 Toolkit to Root Mi A2

Before starting the rooting procedure, you must have an unlocked bootloader on your Xiaomi Mi A2. But no worries, we have you covered.Unlocking your bootloader is explained in the steps below.

Note: All data will be wiped during the bootloader unlocking procedure. Make sure you backup all important data from your device.

Now, follow all the steps correctly, and you will gain root access on your device.

First, enable developer mode on your device. (Go to Settings and then open About phone. Now tap 7 times on MIUI Version.)

Next, navigate to developer options and enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking.

Install ADB and Fastboot drivers on your PC/Laptop. (You can download the minimal setup from the following link.)

Connect you Mi A2 phone (while turned on) and allow USB debugging when asked.

Now, boot your smartphone into fastboot mode (Turn it off and press and hold Volume Down + Power a the same time.)

Open the CMD window in the folder where you installed ADB (Shift + Right-click and choose Open PowerShell window here).

Type the following command and hit Enter:
fastboot OEM unlock
This will unlock the bootloader and reboot your device, also will wipe all data.

Now, set up the device again. Next, enable developer options and OEM unlocking. Then, connect to your PC and allow USB debugging.

Boot your device into fastboot again (as described above) and connect to your PC if it isn’t already.

Now download patched boot.img (August months V9.6.10.0.ODIMIFE, August 5 2018).
Note: Do not use it if you are on any other month patch.

Copy the patched_boot.img you just downloaded to the ADB folder.

Launch Comand Prompt (PowerShell) and run the following command:

fastboot boot patched_boot.img

This will boot your device.

Now, download Magisk Manager apk and install it on your device.

Launch Magisk Manager and click on install. Then choose Direct Install (recommended). It will download the magisk zip package and automatically flash it.

Once this is done, just reboot your Mi A2 and you are done. Enjoy your rooted Xiaomi Mi A2.

Ever since Google introduced the Pixel line, Android users have tried to port its Google camera (GCam) app. And for good reason too. The GCam is an excellent performer. In a previous post, for example, we saw how well it could work with the Xiaomi Mi A1. We also learned that it could work for other Xiaomi devices too. Notable ones included the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi 5, and Redmi 4X.

Yet, users have struggled with a myriad of issues like GCams that don’t open and some that crash often.

As luck would have it, dedicated modders continue to give us ever better GCam ports. But, the issue with these fast developments is that it’s hard to keep track of what works best. That’s why today, I’ve collected all the ports renowned for their performance in Xiaomi devices in one post. I’ll even throw in ARCore mods that work for the Xiaomi Mi A1 and Mi 5S.

Gcam for Xiaomi Mi A1

As you’ll see, there’s a lot going on for the Mi A1. From running the basic GCam mods to handling augmented reality, this phone shows that it can punch above its weight. See the best ports below.

Most GCam ports work without little to no issues on the Mi A1. But, the Arnova8G2 version 1.4 port is the undeniable favorite. Get it: GCam5.1.018-Arnova8G2-V1.4.apk

A GCam with wide, telephoto capabilities is also available. It’s the Cstark27 version 3.3 port. Get it cstark27_GCam_5.1.018_24_wide_v3.3.apk. Still, you’ll need a few mods to help Cstark’s port to use the zoom camera and to solve WhatsApp’s crashing.

Flash the zoom mod found here.

And fix WhatsApp by flashing this mod.

Give your GCam some ARCore functions using the mods below. (Flash both files.)
