Managed to install lineageOS instead (with all the other resurrection stuff already onboard) and worked fine for a week or so before losing all connectivity – no calls, sms, data etc.
Having trouble finding a custom ROM that allows INCOMING SMSes for the Redmi 6a – any ideas what the problem might be?

After system boot the device rebooted about 8 times and then to recovery.
