How to install Resurrection Remix on Whyred?

1. You must have TWRP Custom Recovery installed.
2. Download Gapps (ARM64, 8.1 Nano / Pico for Oreo).
3. Download Magisk if you need to enable root.
4. Copy Gapps and downloaded ROM archive to phone memory.
5. Boot into TWRP and go to Wipe menu.
6. Select the following partitions: Data, system, cache and Dalvik Cache.
7. Confirm wipe.
8. Go back to main menu and tap on “Install”.
9. Install ROM .zip archive, then .zip with Gapps and Magisk.
10. Reboot your device.

How to flash Custom ROM on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Whyred)

Here’s a guide on how you can install custom ROM on Whyred, this exact tutorial works if you’ve got MIUI official ROM on your device and you want to try Lineage or AOSP-based ROMs. Please pay attention that custom ROMs doesn’t have it’s own firmware and because of that it doesn’t make any changes to ARB or modem files. Less chance to get a bricked device.

1. When you flash Custom ROM all personal data will be deleted, so if you need to save something to save, then use ® Titanium Backup or any other similar app. If you want to do backup in TWRP, make sure you’ve removed all passwords and screen locks.
2. Download the ROM you want to install, Gapps (according to the Android version you’ll be installing).
3. Now we’ll boot into TWRP Custom Recovery and make complete wipes of the system (system, data, internal memory, cache’s), after wipe reboot into TWRP and make data format (we’ll do this to decrypt data, because by default it is encrypted), reboot once again. If you’re installing Custom ROM version which is built on LOS, then you don’t need to do data formatting.
4. After all the actions above we’ll have a completely clear device and now we can proceed with Custom ROM, Gapps installations etc.
5. First of all you’ll need to install Custom ROM. In the TWRP main menu tap on “Install”, add .zip archive with ROM files, then include root patches and Gapps if necessary. Confirm installation with swipe.
6. Now we wait 5-10 minutes until the installation is completed. Your device will automatically reboots into new system.

Additional information for LOS based Custom ROMs

In regarding with new Google requests and LineageOS team, the LOS based ROMs can now be installed only on encrypted data partition. If you updating from official MIUI ROM, then simply install LOS based ROM without data partition decryption.

If you already have data partition with decryption, then you can try installing official MIUI ROM on your device or encrypt it in settings if you can, just go to “Settings” > “Security” > “Encrypt data”.

Let me start with describing the top 5 custom ROM for Redmi 5 Plus, these are: crDroid, Viper, AEX, Resurrection Remix and finally Lineage OS.

crDroid is simply the best, there’s nothing to complain about. I would only suggest you to install additional advanced camera applications. Viper ROM is also quite good, except for some bugs with Cyrillic symbols. AEX is on the third place. How to Fix Error 7 in TWRP

Below we will list a few working methods on how you can fix “Error 7” while installing Custom ROM on Redmi 5 Plus via TWRP Custom Recovery.

First method: First of all you’ll need to flash the required firmware version before trying to install any Custom ROM. Here’s the download link: firmware-vince-8.2.1.zip

Second method: Important! Before flashing Custom ROM make sure that you’ve downloaded the right version for your device.

1. Download and unpack Custom ROM on your PC.
2. Open unpacked folder and go to “META-INF/com/google/android”, then find update-script file.
3. Use any text editor tool to open update-script file and delete the first two lines, then save the changes:

   assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "vince" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "vince" 
   || abort("E3004: This package is for device: vince; this device is "
    + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););

4. Find “CERT.rsa”, “CERT.sf” and “MANIFEST.mf” files in “META-INF” folder and delete them.
5. Archive the folder into .zip again and copy to phone internal memory.
6. Flash archive via TWRP.

If you stuck with Error 7 once again, then try to make “Factory Reset” in recovery and try again.

Third method: Try flashing the latest Global Stable ROM Fastboot version, then install TWRP once again, make full wipe and then try flashing Custom ROM.

How to install Viper OS?

Pay attention that we’re not responsible for any possible issues, neither do ROM developers. You do everything at your own risk.

1. First of all you’ll need to download ViperOS ROM archive and copy it to phone internal memory.
2. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery and go to “Wipe” menu.
3. Tap on “Advanced Wipe” and select the following partitions: Dalvik/ART Cache, Cache, System, Data & Cust.
4. Swipe to wipe.
5. Now go back to main menu and tap on “Install”.
6. Locate download ROM and swipe to install.
7. To fix WiFi issues you’ll need to download the patch below and flash the WiFi fix separately. If you want to install Gapps, then download Open Gapps for ARM64, 7.1 Pico and flash right after ROM installation without booting into system. If you don’t need Gapps, simply skip this step.

Tutorial on how to update Mi4S (aqua) to MIUI9

So, let’s get started with Android 7 MIUI 9 ROM installation. You can download latest ROMs for Xiaomi Mi4S here.

1. First of all, you must request official unlock permission from MIUI.
2. Download MiFlash and install the official China ROM.
3. Start your phone, enable developer options, USB debugging and OEM unlock (otherwise, MiUnlock won’t work). After you’ve enabled these options, MiUnlock will go further 50%.
4. Now unlock the bootloader.
5. Use fastboot and flash TWRP Custom Recovery for Android 7. Here’s a tutorial on how to flash TWRP on Mi4S. Download the recommended version below.
6. Boot into TWRP, wipe partitions and make “data format”, reboot into recovery once again.
7. Install MIUI 9 ROM and reboot into system.

Redmi 4X (santoni) MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM Overview

Previously, one of our authors already covered the most awesome things about MIUI 9. Here I will share a few differences from MIUI 8, that I’ve noticed at first sight.

I’m really enjoying the new animations, they’re really nice and smooth looking. Overall the new ROM version runs pretty fast. New stock theme is called “Limitless” and it comes with new beautiful flat icons and backgrounds. I prefer to use more darker background on my phone, but I fell in love with the new icons.

Text on the bottom icons is now removed. Looks pretty good if you ask me. Also small icons in notification bar is looking much prettier.

I also noticed a new icon near the standard clock widget, which I’ve actually missed.

Another new feature is MIUI “Screen Recorded” application. Here’s a short example of a screen recording I’ve made.

A small fix I’ve noticed is that Instagram now opens with the right colors in notification bar. Previously it was all white on my phone.

The only thing that bothers me with the new update is that Gmail notifications are now displayed without any message title and short excerpt. The only text I see “1 New message”, it was quite convenient for me to see what message I’ve received without opening it in the Gmail app. If anyone got a solution for this, I’ll be more than happy.

How to update Redmi 4X to MIUI 9 Global Stable with Updater App

If you haven’t received an OTA update, you can easily do it manually. This method will only work if you’ve got previous version of Official MIUI Global Stable ROM installed.

1. Download recovery ROM from the link below.
2. Open “Updater” application.
3. Tap on the three dots icon in the top.
4. Tap on “Choose update package” and locate downloaded ROM .zip archive.
5. Wait until installation completed and your phone automatically reboots into system.

Basically, this is very stable ROM with a minor issues (check out the XDA thread for more information). We’ve just started testing this ROM, so if you already got some feedback, please share your thoughts in the comments below.

As far as we’ve noticed apps are working pretty fast, GPS is working much faster & energy saving is great.

How to install LineageOS on Xiaomi Mi Max 2

1. First of all, you’ll need to have unlocked bootloader and have TWRP Custom Recovery installed.
2. Boot into TWRP.
3. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Data and System partition.
4. Install LineageOS 14.1 .zip file and OpenGapps (optionally).
5. Reboot into system.
