In this guide we will install UNOFFICIAL Lineage OS 14.1 (OS 7.1.1) on Mi5S device.

You need unlocked bootloader and custom recovery mod (TWRP) installed.

Lineage OS 14.1 (OS 7.1.1) ROM: lineage-14.1-20170118-UNOFFICIAL-capricorn.zip

TWRP Capricorn: TWRP_Capricorn.zip

Drivers & software:

• adb/fastboot tools – ADB-Installer-v1.4.3.exe
• MiFlashUnlock – miflash_unlock-1.1.1111.11231.zip
• SP Flash Tool – SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Windows_v5.1648.00.000_2.zip

Install UNOFFICIAL Lineage OS 14.1

1. Download lineage-14.1-20170118-UNOFFICIAL-capricorn.zip and move to your phone internal memory.
2. Turn off your phone completely.
3. Enter recovery mode (volume button up + power button). After Xiaomi logo appears, keep holding buttons for 3 seconds and release all buttons.
4. In TWRP press “Wipe” > “Advanced Wipe” > select “Dalvik / ART Cache”, “System”, “Data” and “Cache”. Next “Swipe to Wipe”.
5. Now press “Install” and select downloaded ROM. Make swipe “Swipe to confirm Flash”.
6. Select wipe dalvik cache
7. Reboot your device.
8. Wait for the first startup.

Installing GAPPS ARM64 on Mi5S

First download GAPPS installer here.

1. Download and move GAPPS .zip file into phone storage.
2. Turn off device.
3. Enter recovery mode (volume button up + power button). After Xiaomi logo appears, keep holding buttons for 3 seconds and release all buttons.
4. In TWRP press “Install” and select downloaded gapps file. Swipe to confirm Flash.
5. Select wipe dalvik cache
6. Reboot your device.

User FAQ – CyanogenMod 13 Official

Problem: Signal loss problems, cyclic connection and mobile data connection problems on CM 13

Solution: This problem appears on 20161112, 20161114 builds. Builds 20161108 and 20161116 are ok.

Problem: CM13 lag issues with low battery. CyanogenMod lagging with battery 5%. Slow when battery is low.

Solution: This is a common problem for all current CyanogenMod versions. Although this issue can be solved with a third-party kernel firmware. For example follow this thread on XDA dev forum.

Problem: Home button not working after flashing to CyanogenMod 13. Single tap and double tap doesn’t work.

Solution: There’s still no native support of home button, but there’s is alternative method. You need to install Fingerprint Quick Action app.

Problem: CM won’t load (infinite startup animation, bootloop) after the upgrade / flashing the XPosed.

Solution: Since the latest November security patch the XPosed does not work, wait for the official XPosed update.

Problem: Something else stopped or not working!

Solution: Try to update your device to the latest CM13 build or downgrade to the previous version. Also try to format “system” partition. Then you need to install Gapps right after CM installation. This way all your settings and applications will remain.
