Overview of Global Stable 9.2.3.0 MIUI ROM for Redmi 4X

What really pleased me is that now unread Gmail messages are displayed with all additional information including message subject. This feature was missing in 9.1.1.0 ROM version and I’m very happy that it’s back it the 9.2.3.0. As for battery life I didn’t yet noticed is it better than it was on the previous version. There was many complaints about battery life on 9.1.1.0, so share your thoughts in the comment below. What do you think, did the new version bring any improvements?

The 9.2.3.0 MIUI ROM also includes few new applications. These are “Mi Video” and “Mi Mover” applications. The “Mi Video”, as one can understand from the title, is an video viewing application and “Mi Mover” is a very convenient backup tool.

There are a lot of bug-fixes and performance optimization, especially regarding MIUI themes. You can check the full list of changes in the official change-log.

How to install NitrogenOS Oreo?

1. Download the latest NitrogenOS ROM version for Redmi 4X and Gapps (optionally).
2. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery and proceed with required wipes (wipe Data, Cache, System and cache/dalvik partitions).
3. Go to “Install” menu, locate downloaded ROM and put Gapps in the line as well.
4. Wait until installation is completed.

In some cases, it’s required to format Data (happens if your device gets encrypted), so it’s recommended to backup personal data (photography, music and contacts) to external SD card.

How to Report Potential Bugs

When the problem happens, the simplest way to solve your question and to fix that problem is to use LogCat . LogCat is for debugging applications. When Application/Android crash the output “explanation” is saved to a log. This log can be saved and used to help developers to solve the crash.

Here are detailed instructions if you want to send bug reports :

1. Install your device driver for using adb. Download adb executable for your OS (Download: Windows, Linux or Mac). Paste it somewhere
2. Connect your Android Device
3. Go to Setting > Developers options > USB debugging and check it
4. Open a command prompt on windows : windows + r > enter “cmd” > click enter. On Mac: enter “terminal” into Spotlight and open it
5. CD to the location where the adb executable is placed. On Windows : Go to the directory where you have downloaded the adb executable, Shift+Right Click and select “Open Console”. On Linux / Mac: Rightclick in the directory and select “Open Terminal here”
6. Type in your cmd/terminal: adb device to verify your device is properly connected
7. Reproduce your error on your device
8. Right after, paste the whole cmd/terminal window into a paste-service like: https://pastebin.com/ and send it to the developers https://dotos.github.io/index.html

How to install Viper OS?

Pay attention that we’re not responsible for any possible issues, neither do ROM developers. You do everything at your own risk.

1. First of all you’ll need to download ViperOS ROM archive and copy it to phone internal memory.
2. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery and go to “Wipe” menu.
3. Tap on “Advanced Wipe” and select the following partitions: Dalvik/ART Cache, Cache, System, Data & Cust.
4. Swipe to wipe.
5. Now go back to main menu and tap on “Install”.
6. Locate download ROM and swipe to install.
7. To fix WiFi issues you’ll need to download the patch below and flash the WiFi fix separately. If you want to install Gapps, then download Open Gapps for ARM64, 7.1 Pico and flash right after ROM installation without booting into system. If you don’t need Gapps, simply skip this step.

This is a guide how to enable the multicolor led light on your Redmi 4X (santoni). Interested? Then, let’s start.

Enable the Multicolor Led Light on your Redmi 4X (Cyan, Purple, Yellow, White)

Before You Start

The multi-color mode used in this guide requires a root access to work properly. It is tested on MIUI PRO 7.9.14 by Belarus Team. However, it should work fine on most MIUI ROMs. Some users reported that the mode does not work on RR ROM, AEX ROM, and ViperOS ROM. And, others reported it works fine on the new Nougat 8.5.4.0 ROM. So, please share your experience with this mod and how it performs on your custom ROM.

Installation Instruction (No Custom Recovery Required)

In order to enable this mode on your Redmi 4 X, you need to perform the following steps.

1. First and obvious, download the script. You can also find the download links at the end of the article.
2. Keep the downloaded file in a newly created folder on your phone’s internal memory.
3. Download the App init.d scripts support.
4. Make sure you adjust the settings as they are in the following screenshot.
5. Click on the button Run scripts now.
6. Reboot your Redmi 4 X, and you are good to go.

Now your device should be able to send you blinking led signals in cyan, purple, yellow, and white.

Installation Instructions (TWRP method)

In this method, you can find the steps for enabling the multicolor led mode on Redmi 4 X using the TWRP recovery.

How to install Google HDR+ Camera Module with Slo-Mo and Lens Blur on Redmi 4x

The first thing you need to do in order to start the procedure for enabling this module on your Xiaomi Redmi 4X, you need to enable camera2api. You can do this with build prop editor. Or alternatively, you can flash this Magisk Module version 13 using TWRP. Google camera does NOT work without Camera2APi, so make sure you enable it on your ROM with build.prop or use Magisk Module. Check the following sections for the details

Enable camera2api Using build.prop

Google camera HDR+ Mod is working on Xiaomi Redmi 4x (and possibly with other Xiaomi devices). However, to enable it you will need to add this code to your build prop.

Code: “persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1”

After you’ve done it you can skip the following step and continue with the procedure.
Enable camera2api Using Magisk module
The other way for enabling camera2api on your Xiaomi device is using Magisk module. This will work for Xiaomi devices because the port was originally meant for the Mi5s and may be using Xiaomi specific hardware.

To enable camera2api with Magisk module, download this file and flash it using TWRP.

Because this is a relatively new version, we need to test the settings and find what is the best this device.

If you want to optimize the camera for motion photos, choose Nexus6p, Nexus6 Auto, or all Pixel, in Config camera HDR+.

If you want more detailed images, you can choose Pixel 2XL or Nexus 6P in Model. Also, set HDR+ parameters to Medium or a higher level.

To enable HDR+ Ui button, you will need to go to setting then Advanced and HDR+ control.

Note: Make sure you restart the app for the new settings to be applied.

Slo-Mo in Google HDR Camera module is working in 480p SD. To enable Slo-Mo, you need to flash Gcam_Camera2Api via TWRP. You can use G Cam 5.1 for Slo-Mo without greenish tint.

Short Instructions for Successful Installation:

• Instal Magisk 14.1 +
• Enable cam2 API via the Magisk module. You can also do that using build.prop.
• Flash Slo-Mo zip via TWRP (available above on dropbox link) Gscam 4.4 is included in the zip file.
• Instal Gcam 5.1

After this instruction, Slo-Mo will work and its tested in all the custom ROMs.

Disable encryption from recovery on Redmi 4X (Santoni)

The solution is to boot into fastboot mode and wipe the partition which mounts to /userdata. To be clear, fastboot will create the partition again, without any encryption.

Decrypted partition will look like this: /dev/block/mmcblk0p24

While encrypted partition will have similar look: /dev/block/dm-0

TWRP Custom Recovery probably won’t help. So, to remove the encryption, boot into fastboot mode and use the following command:

fastboot format userdata

This will result in the removal of all personal data, there’s no way to avoid this.

Can’t charge Xiaomi Redmi 4X to 100% – How to fix it?

Here’s a steps you can try to follow:

1. Firstly, drain the battery to 0% by playing games or watching youtube for example.
2. Connect battery charger to turned off phone and wait until it’s charged to 100%. Otherwise you may try using a Quick Charge option.

If this method doesn’t help, try the following steps:

• Drain the battery to 0%.
• Boot your phone in Recovery mode and try to charge to 100%.
• Try charging turned off device.
• Try switching to other ROM version (Global is recommended).
• The issue can pass with time.

Some users have found a solution by switching to multilingual MIUI ROM version (xiaomi.eu, miuiPRO etc.), charging in recovery (or TWRP Custom Recovery mode) and simply by waiting.
