How to install Resurrection Remix Android 9 ROM on Redmi 6A (Cactus)

First we’ll start with listing working and not working features:

  1. USSD works.
  2. Double Tap to Wake works fine.
  3. Bluetooth works .
  4. Calls and SMS works fine on the first SIM slot, while it seems like you can’t send SMS via second SMS slot. Probably might be fixed in the future ROM versions.
  5. USB fully supported.
  6. 4G works perfectly.

What’s required?

  • Suggested TWPR version installed: TWRP-3.3.0-0423-OMFG-mod_b6
  • SD-card at least 2GB/4GB.
  • Complete understanding of what you’re doing and what you’re trying to achieve.

Remember, you do everything at your own risk! We are not responsible for any possible issues with your device.

In general, this is a very good ROM version, it works without lags and has everything that is required for everyday use.

Required software and tools for Redmi 6A

Here are download links for everything that would be required for custom ROM installation:

So, let’s finally start the tutorial:

  1. Boot in custom Recovery.
  2. Go to “Wipe” > “Format Data” > Type “yes” to confirm formatting.
  3. Reboot into recovery.
  4. Go to “Wipe” > “Advanced Wipe” and select everything, except for MicroSD and OTG.
  5. Reboot into recovery while we don’t have any OS installed.
  6. Go to “Install” > “Select storage” > “Micro SD” > Press “Install Image” > select vendor.img > select Vendor Image from the list > swipe to confirm.
  7. Next, you’ll need to flash “boot_9_mb.img“, this time instead of “Vendor Image” select “Boot”.
  8. Get back into Main Menu > go to “Advanced” > “Flash Cust” > Swipe to confirm.
  9. Install system-190406-arm-aonly-vanilla-nosu.img as “System image”.
  10. Reboot into recovery.
  11. Go to “Wipe” > “Advanced Wipe” > press “System” > “Repair or Change File System” > “Resize File System” > Swipe to confirm.
  12. Now install GApps. We would recommend Pico version.
  13. Install certificate patch by adding the following files: lib_magisk, Magisk, fix, lib2, LTE, dt2w.
  14. Reboot into system.
  15. The first startup will take around 5 minutes, your phone will reboot a few times.
  16. In case you’ve entered the recovery ignoring the encryption of “data” partition, then you’ll need to flash Start_Trable-9.0.zip archive. If the phone stuck on the main screen, just reboot.
  17. To fix USSD issue, boot into recovery after you’ve installed RR ROM already and mount “system” partition.
  18. Go to “Advanced” > “Terminal” and run the following commands:
    1. cd system
    2. echo “persist.sys.radio.ussd.fix=true” >> build.prop
  19. Optionally you can install YouTube vanced from Magisk Repository.
    1. Don’t forget to disable YouTube automatic updates, otherwise, it will replace the YouTube vanced.
  20. We can recommend to uninstall Audio FX and replace it with Dolby Atmos.
    1. Boot into Recovery.
    2. Mount “System” partition.
    3. Use some advanced file manager application to delete “/system/priv-app/audiofx”, open the following location, click on the folder icon, then delete and swipe to confirm.
    4. Start the phone, open “Magisk” > “Modules” > Press “+” > Select “Dolby Atmos” > Reboot device.

What is GSI?

GSI is an acronym for Generic System Image. The tag Generic is used to reveal that software images can be uploaded on any Treble-enabled device (both Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A are enabled) regardless of the manufacturer.

You can easily find a list of devices supported for Android Pie 9.0 GSI. Full list of all GSI supported ROMs can be found here.

Very clean and fast Custom ROM with a lot of positive reviews. Very similar to AOSP, but comes with a lot of additional features and settings.

How to install AEX 5.8?

  1. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery.
  2. Wipe Data, Dalvik, System, and Cache.
  3. Install the downloaded ROM .zip archive.
  4. Install vendor file through TWRP:
  5. Optionally proceed with GAPPS installation.
  6. Install Magisk.
  7. Reboot into TWRP once again.
  8. Install additional SMS and Call fix.
  9. Reboot once again and use Magisk to install DolbyAtmos fix.
  10. Final reboot and you can continue using your freshly installed firmware.

]]> In this article we’re going to show you a very easy and simple method on how to restore lost and broken IMEI code on your Xiaomi MIUI smartphone. Download all required files, follow the steps carefully after reading the whole tutorial and you’ll be good. First of all, you must backup NVRAM and NVDATA partitions in TWRP in case of any errors.

This method will most probably work on different Android and Xiaomi device models. Please pay attention, in order for this method to work on your phone you must have root (or superuser) enabled.

Then you’ll need to download and install any of the file explorer applications, for example, one of the most popular app ES Explorer.

Fix IMEI Issues on Redmi 6A

Download “Restore IMEI”, unpack it and locate the “Run” file, then open it with some notepad app. We’ll need to change a few things there.

Instead of the numbers which you’ll see in the opened window type your IMEI code. Save the changes, close the notepad and double click on “Run”.

If everything was done correctly, you’ll see a new «MP0B_001» file which we’ll need to copy to your Android device. Let’s see where we need to upload it…

  1. Rename MP0B_11 to LD0B_001. Then copy to your phone external memory card.
  2. Open ES Filemanager and move the LD0B_001 file to /system/vendor/nvdata/md/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI.
  3. Setup the required permissions for LD0B_001 rw-rw—-.
  4. Reboot your device and check for IMEI status.

I’m pretty sure if you’ve followed the steps in this article carefully, you’ve already restored the IMEI on your phone.

Just one more little thing for Redmi 6A device owners to pay attention to. Sometimes it happens that Redmi 6A won’t save changes in system partition after the reboot. We can recommend to replace the file from TWRP using AROMA Filemanager to be completely sure.

In case your device can’t boot into recovery at all, then this instruction might not work for you.

  1. Download MiFlashPro.
  2. Download the latest firmware version for Recovery.
  3. Turn on “Power” and “Volume Up” buttons on your device to reboot into Recovery.
  4. Select “Connect with MiAssistant”.
  5. Connect your smartphone to PC via USB cable.
  6. Open MiFlashPro and select “Recovery”, then locate your device and select the previously downloaded ROM.
  7. Press “Flash”.
  8. Wait until installation process is fully finished and if everything was done correctly, your phone should reboot and work.
