]]> In this article we’re describe the step-by-step method on how you can easily flash TWRP Custom Recovery, then install Magisk to enable Root and finally how to decrypt the data partition on your Redmi 7A smartphone. To continue with this guide you will first need to unlock the bootloader on your device.

If you still don’t have an unlocked bootloader or don’t know how to do it, you can find guides on our website or on any other resource, it’s actually a very easy process, which could just take some time in some cases.

So, after you’ve the unlocked bootloader and ready to continue, please follow the instructions carefully and take a note that you take all the responsibility for your actions with your device.

Another thing here to take care of is your personal data, because during the installation your phone memory will be formatted, so make sure you do all the required backups and save them to your PC or flash drive before continuing further.

Install TWRP, Root and Decrypt Data Partition on Redmi 7A

Required files:

  1. Download ADB drivers from the link above.
  2. Download TWRP Recovery that you want to flash on your device.
  3. Rename downloaded TWRP Custom Recovery to “recovery.img”.
  4. Move the renamed “recovery.img” to the folder with the ADB files.
  5. Download patched “boot” image for your firmware. If you don’t see the patched boot for your ROM version, then you’ll need to patch it by yourself.
  6. After you’ve downloaded the correct patched boot image, rename it to boot.img and move to the same folder with recovery.img.
  7. Download Magisk – Magisk-v19.3.zip and optionally download “no-verity-encrypt-ysl.zip” to encrypt data partition and move these to phone internal memory.
  8. Turn off your device.
    • Start into fastboot mode.Turn off your device, press “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons at the same time until Fastboot logo appears on the screen.
  9. Connect your device to PC using stock USB cable.
  10. Download and install ADB Driver.
  11. Press and hold “Volume Up” button on your device.
  12. On your PC open the folder with recovery.img and boot.img and start the install.bat file.
  13. Your device will automatically reboot into TWRP. You’ll see something like “Unmodified System Partition” continue by “Swipe to allow modifications”.
  14. Proceed with “data” format partition, by going into “Wipe” menu > “Format Data” > “yes”.
    1. Optionally you can decrypt the “data” partition. In this case you’ll have decrypted Data partition, which means that you won’t be able to add face unlock, graphic key or lock code.
    2. In Recovery main menu select “Install” > “SD Card” and locate previously copied “no-verity-encrypt-ysl.zip” file.
    3. Install this archive.
  15. To enable “root” > In the TWRP Custom Recovery main menu select “Install” > SD Card > and locate the archive with Magisk. Proceed with installation.

Issue “The system has been destroyed” on Xiaomi Redmi 7A

  1. Download and install XiaoMiTool 0.5.2 – XMT_0.5.2.zip
  2. Boot your device in Recovery mode.
  3. Select “Connect with MiAssistant”.
  4. Open the folder with previously installed XiaoMiTool and double-click on “FastFlash”.
  5. In the first two fields, in our case we will select “Global Stable” or “Global Developer” firmware, in the third and fourth fields we will select “None”.
  6. Press “Select”.
  7. Connect your device to PC via USB cable if you haven’t did it yet already while selecting “Mi Assistant” in recovery.
  8. After your device is identified in the tool, the required firmware will be automatically downloaded and installation will start after downloading is fully finished.
  9. After successful installation your phone will reboot.

If the first method didn’t helped in your case, you can try further by following these steps:

  1. Download Xiaomi ADB: XiaomiADB.zip
  2. Now find and download Redmi 7A Official MIUI ROM for Recovery.
  3. Start your device in Recovery mode and go to “Mi Assistant”.
  4. Unpack downloaded archive with Xiaomi ADB to “C:\” drive.
  5. Move downloaded ROM to the same folder with ADB files.
  6. Connect your device to PC via USB cable using “Connect with MiAssistant” mode.
  7. Open terminal window on your Windows PC by pressing “Shift” key and right mouse click in the folder with adb files.
  8. Type the following command where ROM.zip is the name of downloaded ROM archive: xiaomiadb sideload_miui ROM.zip
  9. After flashing is completed your phone will reboots automatically.
  10. If you still have the issues after installation, it’s highly recommended to format “data” partition with the following command in terminal line: xiaomiadb format-data

Download Localized MIUI ROMs for Redmi 7A

First of all, you can use Xiaomi.EU Localized Firmware. This is a stable ROM, which comes in a lot of different languages. Very light-weight, ads free, pretty much very similar to official ROM version, but have additional number of tweaks and patches.

Also, there’s MIUI Italia ROM for Redmi 7A. This ROM is developed by a very concerned team of enthusiasts. This ROM usually comes with quality Italian language translations, additional themes, tweaks and features, as well as removed apps which aren’t useful outside of China.

How to flash Redmi 7A via fastboot mode

First of all, pay attention that you’re taking all the responsibility while doing any manipulations with your phone.

  1. Download required fastboot ROM version for your phone.
  2. Unpack downloaded archive to “C:\” drive.
  3. Download adb.zip
  4. Unpack adb.zip archive to the folder with previously unpacked ROM files.
  5. Start your device in fastboot mode.
    1. First turn it off.
    2. Press “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons at the same time and hold until fastboot logo appears on the screen.
  6. Connect your device to PC (it’s highly recommended to use original stock USB cable).
  7. Download and install ADB Driver: adbdriver.zip
  8. Open the folder with unpacked ROM files, you’ll see the following .bat files. Select the one you’ll need:
    1. flash_all.bat – flash ROM and memory format (stock reset).
    2. flash_all_except_storage.bat – flashes ROM and keeps /data partition, meaning that data will be saved on your device after flashing.
    3. flash_all_lock.bat – flashes ROM and locks the bootloader.
  9. Installation process will take around 10 mins. After successful flashing, your device will automatically reboots into system. First startup will take around 2 mins.

Flashing Custom Recovery and encrypting data partition on Redmi 7A

Download TWRP Custom Recovery for Redmi 7A

  1. First of all, you must have unlocked bootloader on your phone. Follow this tutorial, if you don’t know how to do this.
  2. Download adb.zip archive.
  3. Unpack adb.zip archive to C:\ drive.
  4. Download TWRP Custom Recovery for Redmi 7A.
  5. Rename downloaded recovery to Recovery.img (make sure file type is visible in your system settings).
  6. Move Recovery.img to unpacked adb folder.
  7. Download boot image file for your ROM version. If you don’t see the patched boot for the firmware version you’re using, then you’ll need to patch it by yourself.
  8. Rename downloaded boot image file to boot.img and move it to the adb folder together with Recovery.img
  9. Download Magisk 19.3 and optionally you can use no-verify-encrypt-ysl.zip
  10. Turn off your device.
  11. Reboot into fastboot mode.
  12. Connect your device via USB to PC. It’s highly recommended to use stock USB cable.
  13. Download and install adbdriver.zip
  14. Press and hold “Volume UP” button on your phone.
  15. Open the C:\adb folder with recovery.img and boot.img files and start install.bat
  16. Your phone will reboot into TWRP.
  17. You’ll see “Unmodified System Partition”, proceed with “Swipe to Allow Modifications”.
  18. Format data partition.
    1. Wipe > Format Data > Yes
  19. Optionally you can encrypt data partition on your device. If you’ll proceed with data encryption, you won’t be able to use locking options including face lock on your phone.
    1. In TWRP, go to “Install” > SD Card and locate previously downloaded no-verity-encrypt-ysl.zip, continue flashing this patch.
    2. To enable ROOT: In recovery “Install” > SD Card and locate downloaded Magisk archive, flash to root.

If you’re going to proceed with flashing, don’t forget that you take all the responsibility for your phone. If you’re not sure what you’re doing either stop here or get more confident by reading guides and tutorials.

Latest Unofficial GSI Firmware for Xiaomi Redmi 7A (pine)

First of all make you sure you’ve installed the following:

  • ADB driver v1.17 lite.zip – Download
  • Minimal ADB and Fastboot – Download
  • TWRP Custom Recovery for Redmi 7A – Download

Now let’s continue with the ROM list:

How to flash GSI ROM on Redmi 7A?

  1. Install Magisk, enable ROOT and flash patched boot. Read the full tutorial.
  2. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery. You must have GSI ROM archive and everything else copied to SD Card already.
    1. Wipe > Format Data > Confirm
    2. Wipe > Advanced Wipe > select “System, Dalvik, Cache”.
    3. Go to “Install” > “Install IMG”, locate downloaded ROM archive, select “System”.
    4. Go to “Install” once again and flash Permissiver.zip file.
  3. Reboot.
  4. Enter the following commands in the terminal (download vbmeta.img)
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img

fastboot reboot

That’s all. Your phone should reboot into the system. Once again, to remind you, we’re not responsible for any possible issues. Make sure you have backups and fastboot ROM version on your PC in case you’ll need to restore your phone. We do not advice to start flashing if you don’t have enough experience working with ADB and Fastboot.

How to fix screen brightness issues?

  • Enable USD Debugging.
  • Start terminal on your PC and enter the following command:
adb shell
su
setprop persist.sys.qcom-brightness $(cat /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlight/max_brightness)

Issue should be fixed.

How to enable device certification on GSI ROM?

Keep in mind, if you see certification request on the setup stage, just complete it. If you get annoying notifications, you can just disable these.

  • Find GSF Device-ID
  • Download the following app – Device ID.apk
  • Copy “Google Service Framework (GSF).”
  • Visit official page and paste previously copied code.
