How to install:

  1. Download ROM .zip archive and copy to phone flash memory.
  2. Open fastboot, reboot into fastboot mode, use the following commands:
    1. fastboot erase system
    2. fastboot erase userdata
  3. Flash PBR or TWRP 3.5.0 Custom Recovery.
  4. Select the previously downloaded ROM and flash it.
  5. After flashing is completed, turn off your phone.
  6. At this step, the phone won’t start, don’t panic.
  7. Start the Mi Flash Tool, boot your phone in EDL mode and flash everything except these files:
    1. Super, userdata, cache, recovery, cust & vdmeta.
    2. To start your phone in EDL mode, press and hold both “Volume +” and “Volume -“.
  8. Boot into recovery again and now flash the Permissiver_v5.zip.
  9. Reboot into system. If everything was done correctly, device should start & work at that point.

How to install:

  • Copy downloaded ROM to SD Card.
  • Start your phone in fastboot mode.
  • Enter the following commands in the terminal:
    • fastboot erase system
    • fastboot erase userdata
  • Flash TWRP Custom Recovery
    • fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  • Enter TWRP Custom Recovery and flash downloaded ROM archive. Optionally install Gapps and Magisk.
  • No need to format anything in TWRP.

Hardware and Performance

Both the Redmi 9A and the 9AT come with the octa-core Mediatek Helio G25 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The GPU is the IMG PowerVR GE8320 @ 600 MHz. The Antutu score for the two phones is 102.778. 

The two phones feature a plastic body with a sleek design that is made to fit your palm perfectly. 

The only difference between the Redmi 9A and the 9AT is that the 9AT comes with a third microphone for improved audio quality. Other than that, the two devices are virtually identical.

Availability / Price

The two phones come in carbon gray, ocean green, and sky blue. The storage options are either 32GB and 2GB RAM or 32GB and 3GB RAM.

There is also a China-only variant with 128GB internal storage and 6GB RAM. Pricing starts at € 84.00 for the Redmi 9A and € 104.00 for the Redmi 9AT.

If you do not need a third microphone, the Redmi 9A is the better option. The phones are available in India, China, and parts of Europe.
