If you here it means that you’ve a hardbricked Xiaomi’s Mi 5X device in your hands and don’t know what to do next. That could happen to everyone, no need to panic. Proceed to the method below and see if that helps you!

How to restore bricked Mi 5X (Tiffany)

You may get bricked phone as result of locked bootloader with Custom ROM installed. In this case you can still use the fastboot mode and try to make official bootloader unlock using MiUnlock tool.

Another cause is related to Xiaomi Mi 5X Oxygen device. You can accidental flash any other bootloader which differs from original oxygen and hardbrick your phone. There’s a way on how to restore it Mi5X Oxygen:

Download unbrick patch which includes oxygen bootloader for MiFlash. Unpack downloaded archive in new folder.

Download and install latest MiFlash tool on your PC: MiFlashSetup_eng.msi

Remove the back panel on your phone and look for test points and disconnect the battery. Watch the video for more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ50zThXLLM

Connect USB cable to your phone. Do not connect to PC yet.

Connect the test-points (I assume that boots your device in EDL mode) and now connect your phone to PC. Go to “Device manager” and check if your device is found as “COM-port”, “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008”).

Start MiFlash tool.

Press “select” and find previously unpacked “unbrick” archive.

Press “refresh” and COM port should be now displayed in the list.

Finally press the “flash” button to start installation process. Wait a few seconds for “flash done” and “success” messages to appear.

Disconnect your device from PC and connect the battery again. Turn off.

Now your device should be unbricked and you can boot without any problems.

If you want a new smart phone and you’re torn between the Xiaomi Mi 5X and the Xiaomi Mi 6, you’ll find this detailed guide helpful. Today, we’re going to compare these popular smart phones. We’ll look at their main features in order to see how they differ…and which elements they have in common! Once you’ve read our “Xiaomi Mi 5X vs Xiaomi Mi 6” guide, you’ll be ready to move forward and choose the new smart phone which is the best fit for your needs.

Xiaomi Mi5X vs Xiaomi Mi6 – Which Smart Phone Is Right For You?

Both styles are highly-rated and come from the same trusted and established manufacturer. Xiaomi is a Chinese software and electronics company which was founded in April of 2010. The company earned a staggering 89.5 billion bucks (USD) in profits during 2015! Clearly, this company really delivers for a host of clients from all walks of life. Now, let’s take a look at these two smart phones. One of them may be the smart phone of your dreams!

Discover the Xiaomi Mi 5X

Buy Xiaomi Mi5X

This smart phone hit the Chinese market during summer of 2017. It comes with a five and a half-inch display screen with touchscreen capability. It offers 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution for crisp, clear displays.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X gets its power from an “octacore” processor (the Qualcomm Snapdragon). It includes four gigabytes of RAM. When you choose this popular model, you’ll access sixty-four gigabytes of internal storage, which may be expanded in order to provide one hundred and twenty-eight gigabytes (just add a micro SD card!). We like the cameras on this make and model. This smart phone has a main camera with twelve megapixels at the rear. There is a second, front-shooter camera which offers 5-megapixel performance. The front camera is a natural choice for selfie shots!

This fun and functional electronic toy utilizes the Android 7.0 operating system. The smart phone runs via its non-removable battery (3080mAh). The dimensions of the smart phone are 155.40 by 75.80 by 7.30 and these dimensions are for height, width and thickness, respectively. The smart phone weighs in at one hundred and sixty-five grams.

This model features dual SIM capability (GSM/GSM). It will accept Nano-SIM/Nano-SIM. When it comes to connectivity, this smart phone will give you great options, such as GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G and infrared.

The Mi 5 includes sensors for proximity and ambient light. It also has an acceleromater and a gyroscope.

Learn About the Xiaomi Mi 6 Features

Buy Xiaomi Mi6

This model has so many great advantages. Its design is solid and very attractive. As well, it offers dependable and impressive performance, thanks to its Snapdragon 835 processor. When you choose this model, you’ll access battery life which is better-than-average. As well, you’ll be able to enjoy a dual-lens camera with an amazing portrait mode. If you want your best selfies ever, the Xiaomi Mi 6 may be the smart phone that you’ve been waiting for!

This model is pretty affordable in light of all that it has to offer, so it’s a budget-friendly choice. However, it’s generally a bit harder to find than the Xiaomi Mi 5X and the Xiaomi Mi 6 doesn’t come with a headphone jack, which may be a big drawback for some people.

The phone is designed to offer many of the same great features as the “flagship” Mi 5. This smart phone has high-level technical specifications, a pleasing and innovative design, a camera with a zoom lens and a reasonable price tag (prices for both smart phones that we’re comparing here will vary based on where you decide to buy them). However, this phone isn’t sold in the West, like the Xiaomi Mi 5 is. If you’re in America, the Mi 6 will be harder to access.

In our opinion, one of the key advances found in the Mi 6, which is an improvement over Mi 5 performance, is the processor. It’s a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and this is a processor which isn’t found in too many smart phones. You’ll find it in the HTC U11 and the Galaxy S8.

Also, this smart phone is available in a ceramic version which is beautiful and coveted. If you want the fanciest Xiaomi Mi 6, you should go ceramic, as you’ll access more RAM and storage (6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage).

Which Smart Phone is Right for You?

Now that you know more about both of these smart phones from Xiaomi, you’ll be ready to choose the one that is right for you. While it’s always tempting to go for the newest model (the Xiaomi Mi 6 is newer), and there are often practical reasons to do so, we think that the flagship Xiaomi Mi 5 does provide a lot of bang for the buck. Also, we love the way that the Mi5, which was created with Chinese users in mind, is easier to find in the West.

To make a smart choice, look at your needs, think about which market you’re in and consider the technical specifications of both models. Also, think about price. You’re going to find that both of these smart phones are affordable. However, pricing them across a few online retailers will help you to decide which one fits your budget.

We hope that this detailed comparison has helped you to make a wise decision about which smart phone to buy. We love them both, but give the Mi 5 the edge, simply because it has a proven track record and it’s available in China and in the West.

Hey, guys! Recently we have wrote a tutorial on how to use XiaoMiTool to flash your Mi 5X device and right now we would like to share another method. This tutorial also includes the part on how to unlock bootloader on your Xiaomi phone.

Guide on how to unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and root Mi 5X

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

Let’s assume you’ve just bought Xiaomi Mi 5X phone and finally get it in your hands.

Start with creating Mi-Account or use the existing one.

Request unlock bootloader permission from official MIUI website.

Enable developer options and open them, go to “MiUnlock status”, press “Add account and device”.

If account was successfully added you should skip the 6 step, if account wasn’t added continue to the next step.

Install Google Services from Mi App Store, next download and install VPN Turbo v.1.3, select “China” region and enable VPN Turbo.

Now go back to developer options and try adding your account once again. With enabled VPN everything should work perfectly fine.

Now you’ll need to wait 72 hours before unlocking the bootloader on Mi 5X.

In case you’ve got Stable ROM installed on your device and nothing works, then try downloading and flashing to Developer ROM using the updater app on your phone.

Now let’s assume 72 hours has passed and now we can continue with unlocking the bootloader on Mi 5X phone.

Download and install MiFlash Unlock 2.3.803.10: miflash_unlock-en-2.3.803.10.zip

Open Mi Unlock tool and sign into your Mi Account.

Boot your Mi 5X in fastboot mode and connect to PC via USB cable.

Now you can unlock the bootloader.

To flash TWRP Custom Recovery on your Mi 5X phone, first of all you’ll need to download TWRP and copy downloaded twrp .img file to the Mi Unlock folder.

Boot your phone in fastboot mode, go to Mi Unlock folder and press “Shift” + “Right mouse” buttons at the same time, then select “Open command window here”.

In the opened command window type these commands (where twrp.img is the name of custom recovery .img file):

fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img

Your phone will be automatically booted in TWRP custom recovery mode.

Go to “Wipe” menu and swipe to continue.

Go to “Install” menu and select downloaded ROM. Swipe to confirm installation.

Again go to “Wipe” and wipe “Dalvik / Cache” after ROM installation.

If you also want to enable root, you should download SuperSU 2.82 and copy .zip archive to phone memory before flashing, then in the end go to “Install” menu, select previously copied .zip archive and swipe to confirm installation.

Reboot into system.

Good luck in your experiments and have fun with your Xiaomi smartphone!

In this post you’ll find a complete tutorial on how you can easily flash your Mi 5X phone, install TWRP Custom Recovery and also enable root using the XiaoMiTool. This same tutorial will also work perfectly fine with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro device as well as Mi5X. Actually, this is the most convenient, up-to-date and easiest methods on how to flash and root your Xiaomi phone.

Just in case, please pay attention that only you take responsibility for your actions.

Guide on how to flash Custom ROM, install custom recovery and root Xiaomi Mi5X

Before you’ll start using XiaoMiTool here’s a few things you must know:

First of all to flash any ROM version and use all features of XiaoMiTool you’ll need to officially unlock bootloader on your phone using the MiFlashUnlock tool. Otherwise, you can flash only Official ROM with locked bootloader.

To use XiaoMiTool you must have a phone with a fully working ROM, you can’t use XiaoMiTool with softbricked / hardbrick devices.

After flashing any ROM version all data will be deleted, remember to make backups!

It’s required to have internet access to use XiaoMiTool.

Now when you’re aware of the things above, let’s continue to our tutorial.

Preparing to flash Xiaomi Mi 5X with XiaoMiTool
