[Guide] How to install MultiROM on Mi Max 2 Smartphone

1. First of all you’ll need to unlock bootloader on your Mi Max 2 phone. You can unlock both on Official MIUI Developer and Stable ROM versions. Now sign in into your Mi Account and wait required time. To get information on how long you’ll need to wait before official unlock, use the Mi Unlock tool.
2. After you’ve successfully unlocked the bootloader, flash TWRP Custom Recovery via fastboot mode.
3. Boot into TWRP and remove encryption from userdata partition. To do this go to “Wipe” > “Format data” and reboot into recovery once again. This will also remove all user data from your device, so remember to make required backups.
4. Now flash the previously downloaded latest Stable or Beta version of MultiROM. After installation, reboot into system and enjoy your freshly installed firmware.

Complete Guidance on How to Root Xiaomi Mi Max 2

Pay attention to this list of requirements:

• To flash any Custom or localized ROM you’ll need to have TWRP Custom Recovery installed on your device.
• Recommended SuperSU version is 2.82.

Now let’s continue with the rooting guide:

1. It’s recommended to disable and remove screen lock and other device passwords.
2. Request official bootloader unlock permission from Xiaomi.
3. Wait until you can unlock the bootloader.
4. Download MiFlash Unlock tool (it’s recommended to use the old version, since it can bypass the unlock waiting time): miflash_unlock-1.1.1111.11231.zip – 19 MB
5. Use Mi Unlock to unlock the bootloader on your Mi Max 2 device (look for tutorials on our website).
6. Now we will download TWRP Custom Recovery for Xiaomi Mi Max 2: twrp_max2.img
7. Next download SuperSU and move the file to phone memory: SuperSU_PRO_v2.79SR4_Patched.zip
8. Download the Xiaomi.eu Multilingual ROM version (you can also try another ROM version on your discretion) and copy to phone memory.
9. Now flash TWRP Custom Recovery by typing in ADB terminal window:

   fastboot flash recovery twrp_max2.img

10. Reboot your phone into recovery mode again by pressing “Volume Up” and typing “fastboot boot twrp_max2.img” in terminal.
11. At the first startup confirm by swiping right.
12. Now select “Reboot into recovery” to reboot your phone in recovery mode again.
13. Go to “Wipe” menu and wipe “Data”, “Cache”, “Dalvik”.
14. Select files for installation: select downloaded ROM .zip archive and add SuperSU. Continue to installation.
15. Wipe “Cache” and “Dalvik”.
16. Reboot into system.
17. Enjoy root on your Mi Max 2 smartphone!

LineageOS 14.1 Custom ROM for Xiaomi Mi Max 2
