1. Download and install DualBootPatcher apk.
2. Open DualBootPatcher and swipe left corner to open the menu.
3. Confirm kernel installation and enable root.
4. Open menu again and select “Patch zip file”.
5. Select the required ROM file.
6. Now select “Data” partition and enter ID (use any combination of symbols and numbers).
7. Select the place to save the modified ROM and now you’ve got it pached for multiboot.
8. Press the icon on the right upper corner and patching process will start.
9. After patching is completed reboot into TWRP Custom Recovery.
10. Press “Install” and select previously modified .zip file.
11. Proceed with installation and confirm with clean install.
12. After flashing is completed, press “reboot system”.
13. Your phone will start in the newly installed ROM.
14. Now install DualBootPatcher again and go to “ROMs”.
15. All you need to do now, is to select the required ROM and reboot.
16. That’s it! You can also create a desktop short-cut for each ROM you’ve got installed on your device, so you can easily change between ROMs.

[Solution] Can’t connect to WiFi on Xiaomi Mi5S

For this method you’ll require to have superuser permission enabled on your phone. Will also work on Xiaomi Mi5 with Custom ROM.

The issue is result of a broken MAC-address, which shows in red color in engineering menu.

1. Install ADB driver on your PC.
2. Flash your MIUI smartphone.
3. Enable developer options.
4. Then go to “Developer options” and enable “USB-debugging”.

3. Backup modemst1, modemst2, fsg partitions (root is required).
4. Open command window from the folder with ADB files and type the following commands (backup files will be created in phone memory):

   adb shell 
   su 
   dd if=/dev/block/sde28 of=/sdcard/modemst1 
   dd if=/dev/block/sdf3 of=/sdcard/modemst2 
   dd if=/dev/block/sdf5 of=/sdcard/fsg

5. Installed SuperSU.

Now let’s start with the tutorial:

1. Connect your phone to PC.
2. Flash NON-HLOS.bin file. Copy “NON-HLOS.bin” to the folder with ADB files, open the command window and use the following commands:

   fastboot devices
   fastboot.exe erase modem
   fastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
   fastboot.exe reboot

3. Your phone will reboot. Now wipe the required partitions. Use the following commands:

   adb shell
   su
   dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/sde28

4. Your phone will reboots.

How to flash Xiaomi Mi 5S

Below we’ve listed all the available methods on how you can flash your Xiaomi Mi 5S smartphone. Before continuing with out tutorials, make sure you’ve installed all required drivers. Few of the methods required you to have unlocked bootloader device, you can also find unlocking tutorials at our website, simply use the search button.

1. Flashing Mi5S with XiaoMiFlash

This method will work with locked bootloader (using the EDL mode). It’s recommended then you want to clean all previously installed ROMs. Also you can use this method in case you want to upgrade from China to Global and and vice versa, as well as lock the bootloader once again.

1. Download required fastboot ROM version from the above links.
2. Use WinRar to unpack downloaded ROM. You should see ROM files and “images” folder after unpacking.
3. Move unpacked folder to the “C:\” drive.
4. Now pay attention to bootloader lock status. Locked device can be flashed only in EDL mode, while unlocked device can be flashed both in fastboot mode and EDL (download mode).
5. Make sure your phone is charged on 50% at least. Also don’t forget to backup important data from your device.
6. Start MiFlash.exe and press “Refresh” button. If all drivers were previously installed you should see your device COM port.
7. Go to “Device Manager” and check if device is recognized correctly.
8. In MiFlash press “Select” or “Browse” (depends on MiFlash version) and select the folder with ROM files.
9. Select “Clean all” or “Flash all” option (depends on MiFlash version). Select “Clean all and lock” if you need to lock the bootloader after flashing.
10. Press “Flash” button to start flashing. The installation process should take around 5-10 minutes. After installation is completed you’ll see “The operation is completed successfully” message.

If you stuck with any issues, check the following points:

• Try using different version of MiFlash tool.
• Make sure the ROM files are unpacked correctly.
• Try reinstalling drivers on your PC.
• If you’re trying to flash locked device in fastboot mode, this will not work. Locked device can be flashed only in EDL mode.

How to flash Xiaomi Mi5S with “Updater” app

Actually, this is the most easiest and convenient way on how to update your Mi 5S phone with fresh ROM version. It doesn’t require you to install any complicated drivers on your PC and it can be used with locked bootloader. The only issue that it’s might not work as it’s supposed to.

Pay attention to the following points, before using “Updater” app:

• If you want to downgrade to the previous version, all personal data will be deleted from your phone.
• Most probably you can’t flash Global ROM from China and vice versa.
• You can’t use “Updater” app to install multilingual ROMs.

Now let’s continue with the flashing tutorial:

1. Download official MIUI ROM for recovery and copy to your phone.
2. Open “Updater” application and tap on the three dots icon in the top.
3. In the opened menu select “Choose update package”.
4. Locate downloaded ROM archive on your phone.

How to flash Xiaomi Mi5S with TWRP Custom Recovery

First of all you must have TWRP Custom Recovery installed on your phone. This will require you to have unlocked bootloader. There’s no way to install TWRP on locked bootloader.

1. After you’ve installed TWRP Custom Recovery, disconnect your phone from PC and select language in TWRP main menu.
2. Swipe to allow modifications.
3. Press “Reboot” > “Recovery”.
4. After you’ve rebooted in TWRP once again, go to “Mount” and check “Disable MTP”.
5. Press “Back” button to return to main menu.
6. Now tap on “Wipe” (this step will delete all data from your phone) > “Format data”. In the appeared window type “yes”. Swipe to continue.
7. It’s recommended to backup your device, go to “Backup” menu and select “Boot”,”System”, “Data”, “Cache”. Swipe and confirm.
8. Go back to main menu and tap on “Wipe” > “Advanced Wipe”. Select Dalvik/ART Cashe, Cashe, System, Data partitions.
9. Go back to main menu again and press “Reboot” > “Recovery’.
10. Connect your phone to PC after reboot.
11. Copy required recovery ROM .zip file to phone internal memory. Check if “system partition read only” is disabled.
12. Now go to “Install” menu and locate ROM .zip archive. No need to enable any options here.
13. Swipe to confirm installation.
14. After installation is completed, swipe to “Wipe Dalvik/Cache”.
15. Reboot OS.
16. First startup may take around 15-20 minutes.

How to flash Mi5S with Mi PC Suite

This method will work for any official ROM version. It will work for both locked and unlocked bootloader. Mi PC Suite will also install all required drivers on your PC, if they haven’t been installed previously. If you want to use Mi PC Suite to flash recovery ROM, you must have stock recovery on your device. In case you’ve TWRP Custom Recovery installed already, you can rollback to stock recovery by using fastboot command: “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”. You can find stock recovery file in any official .tgz ROM archive.

Now let’s continue with step-by-step tutorial on how to use Mi PC Suite:

1. Download and install Chinese MiPhoneManager (or Mi PC Suite depends on how you’ll would like to call it). You can find download links on our website.
2. Start Mi PC Suite and insert USB cable in your phone. Do not connect it to PC yet.
3. In the bottom left corner you can see Mi PC Suite version, click on it and update to the latest version.
4. Now we’ll need to choose the flashing method. “Recovery” will work for locked bootloader, while “fastboot” method works only with unlocked bootloader.
5. Use volume buttons to navigate and press “Power” button to choose the required flashing method.
6. After you’ve selected the flashing method, connect your phone to PC.

Here you can read the full guide on how to install LineageOS 14.1 on your Mi5s device. This was written for previous version, but also works fine with this one.

Short review Lineage OS 14.1 (OS 7.1.1)

This is a pretty stable release. While testing we didn’t experienced any restarts, random turn offs or hard lags. Fingerprint scanner is working well. Also this ROM is pretty clean. Battery life is a big plus and you’ve got a lot of energy saving and performance settings to adjust. Both sim cards are working fine, 4G, 3G and 2G networks working fine.

MTK transfer to PC is working fine, including USB 3.0. Wi-Fi hotspot is also working fine.

And here’s a few disappointments: no additional themes included (probably will be added in future versions). In “Accounts” menu only Google & Email account are shown.

In conclusion this is a very stable ROM that can be used as your everyday firmware and if compared to MIUI there are many pros.

How to install AICP 7.1.1 Custom Rom on Mi5

1. Download AICP 7.1.1 ROM .img file and GApps (not required, recommended version OpenGApps_arm64_7.1.1-PICO)
2. Boot in recovery
3. If you’re already got some ROM installed then wipe “system” and “data” partitions. In case of update continue to the next step.
4. Install downloaded ROM.
5. Flash GApps (in case you’ve downloaded them)
6. Reboot and enjoy.

September 27 Xiaomi company may present a new flagman smartphone Mi5S. There was a lot of insides and leaks last week, and I think that they draw attention of everyone. We already know quite a lot of information about this flagship model, and new leaks are still continue to appear.

For example, in the Weibo social network we’ve found two teaser for Mi5S. You can see there a silhouette of a smartphone with the front and back sides. Here we would like you to pay attention at two interesting moments. First, the camera is not placed in the upper right corner, but in the center. And besides that its double lens camera! Secondly, the device has bended edges not only on the back, but also in front. It is possible that the screen of Mi5S will be slightly curved on the left and right sides.

Along with that, there was a leak of a photo with other devices from Xiaomi. This device also got a dual camera and it is located in the upper left corner. Most likely this is Mi5S Plus or Mi Note 2.

This is not all. General CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun published in Weibo two photographs, which he says have been made on the new dual camera smartphone. But, as usual, we can’t judge authenticity of this pictures.

Xiaomi also released another teaser, that confirms information about ultrasonic fingerprint scanner Snapdragon Sense ID. Now we’re sure that it will be installed on Mi5S. Its special feature is that it can work even when the finger is wet or dirty. Sounds quite awesome, right?

To conclude: According to the latest reports, Xiaomi Mi5S get a Snapdragon 821 processor, 6GB of RAM and battery capacity of 3490 mAh. It is expected that the version with 64 GB of internal memory will cost $ 299, while the model with the 256 GB will cost $ 449.

Xiaomi company just published a new teaser of upcoming Xiaomi Mi5S, according to which the new device will be shown on 27 September during the presentation in the exhibition center China National Convention Center in Beijing. In accordance with the latest leaks, Xiaomi Mi5S can get 5,15 inch screen with 3D Touch technology support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at 2.4 GHz, GPU Adreno 530, 3/4/6 GB of RAM, and 64/128/256 GB drive. In addition to this, the device will be equipped with a 3490 mAh battery that supports a function of fast charge with Quick Charge 3.0.

As for the camera, there are rumors that Xiaomi Mi5S will be equipped with 8 megapixel and 16-megapixel main camera with  f/1.8, image stabilization and dual LED-flash, thanks to which user can now easily record videos in 4k with 30 fps. Smartphone with two SIM-cards will also support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G / 3G / 2G and NFC.

Together with Xiaomi Mi5S developers can also showcase another fresh device Mi5S Plus, which will also be running on Snapdragon 821. Xiaomi Mi5S Plus model will be equipped with 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 2K, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, as well as ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

According to the latest rumors during the upcoming September presentation Xiaomi developers will show 5.7-inch smartphone Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Pro.

Most likely, this device will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.6 GHz and 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro 2 will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 8 6.9.8 firmware.

I’m actually very interested in seeing this device and may be even bought it.
