I’ve just ordered Redmi 4 Prime from China. What ROM will be installed?

It could be delivered to your with fake MIUI ROM installed (in this case you may stuck with some weird issues and translation errors, although many users have no problems with fake ROMs). It can be also delivered with Official China or Global ROM. Anyway you can always try to ask seller to send you device with Global ROM installed on it.

Can I flash Official Global ROM from fake MIUI ROM without unlocking bootloader?

Yeap, it’s possible. You can actually flash Global ROM from any other ROM. Simply search for the tutorials on our website or use google search.

Can I flash Redmi 4A ROM version on Redmi 4 Prime? Can I install Redmi 4 Prime ROM on Redmi 4?

Right now we have 3 different variations of Redmi 4 phone. These devices (Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 Prime) are completely different on hardware level and by flashing MIUI ROM from other device model you’ll most probably get a bootloop or even a hardbricked device.

The thing is that sometimes MTP is working, but some devices have issues with MTP after root. You can always flash this version of SuperSU via TWRP Custom Recovery and everything should work without any issues.

How to start Redmi 4 Prime in fastboot mode?

Actually, this is very easy.

I’ve got errors with Google Services on Redmi 4 Prime

Notifications aren’t working on my Redmi 4 Prime

To fix notifications issues on your Redmi 4 Prime phone (or other similar Xiaomi phone models) you’ll need to do the following:

1. First of all make sure you’ve added required applications to auto start.
2. Next check that required apps have access to 3G and/or Wi-Fi.
3. If you’ve network access via Wi-Fi, then enable Wi-Fi in sleep mode.
4. Visit Notifications settings and enable notifications for required apps.
5. Also visit “Battery and performance” settings and turn off power restrictions for required applications.

I’ve flashed Global ROM on Redmi 4 Prime and my phone doesn’t start

All you need is to wait. First startup may take up to 20 minutes.

Can I unlock bootloader on Global ROM?

I can’t change lock screen background on Global ROM

You’ll need to enable MIUI default launcher. In case you’ve installed different launcher most probably you’ll get errors while changing lock screen background.

Restoring NVRAM and IMEI code on Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime (HM4 Prime, Markw)

Let’s start with this interesting tutorial right now! Scroll to the bottom of this post to find download links for required files and tools.

1. Download and install QPST and Qualcomm USB Drivers on your PC or laptop: QPST.WIN.2.7.429.rar
2. Enable USB Debugging.
3. Enable Diag Mode on your phone. Enter this code *#*#13491#*#* and in the opened window tap on the first button (DIAG, SERIAL_SMD, RMNET_IPA, ADB) and press “Ok”. If you can’t enter Diad Mode, you can try flashing to official MIUI8 Stable 8.0.5.0 ROM version using the MiFlash tool.
4. Now connect your turned on phone to PC and check “Device manager” to see if all required drivers are installed.
5. Now we’ll make QCN backup. That’s important, so we can roll back in case of any issues.
6. First of all copy your IMEI and MEID code and save somewhere.
7. Start “QPST Configuration” tool. In the opened window you should see your device in the list. If the list is empty double check all required drivers on your PC.
8. In the top menu select “Start Clients \ Software Download”. In the opened window select “Backup” tab. Now press the “Browse” button in the bottom and select a place where you want to save backup of your modem settings (it’s recommended to save in both .qcn and .xqcn file types). Press “Start” to continue. Repeat for another file type.
9. Now we will move the new modem setting. Download and unpack redmi4pro_8null.zip, in this archive you’ll find clean modem files with IMEI=800000000000000. Go to “Restore” tab, press the “Browse” button in the bottom and select file that we’ve previously unpacked from redmi4pro_8null.zip archive.
10. Select “Allow phone / file ESN mishmatch”.
11. Press “Start” and wait until the process is completed.
12. Close all QPST windows!
13. Now we’ll restore our IMEI code.
14. Reboot your phone.
15. Go to “Settings” > “About” and tap a few time on “Storage” > “About phone” and you should see your phone number and clean IMEI (800000000000000). You will need to change this to your own IMEI codes you’ve previously saved. For this we’ll need to download qualcomm_IMEI_Write_tool.zip
16. Unpack Qualcomm IMEI Write Tool and start WriteDualIMEI(W+G_eMMC).exe (in case you want to write the MEID code, then use the “qualcomm Write IMEI MEID.exe” file.).
17. Simply enter your both IMEI codes and and press “Start” to continue. You should see a success message if everything was done correctly.
18. In the end we need to disable Diag Mode. Enter *#*#13491#*#* and tap on the last button (MTP,ADB) and press “Ok”.

Flashing Xiaomi.eu MIUI ROM on Locked Redmi 4 Prime

To flash international MIUI ROM from Xiaomi.eu or MultiROM you must have MiFlash and all required drivers installed on your PC. Also you need to have any ROM installed on your device.

1. First you’ll need to enable developer options and enable OEM UNLOCKING.
2. Go to “Settings” > “About phone” > Tap a few times on MIUI version to enable developer options. Also go to developer options and enable OEM UNLOCKING.
3. Download and extract _PatchLockedBL.zip and install this patch using MiFlash just like a usual ROM.
   • To do this you’ll need to boot your Redmi 4 Prime device in download mode (EDL). To enter EDL mode on Redmi 4 Prime: reboot your device and hold power button with volume up. Here’s our post on how to enter EDL mode on Redmi 4 Prime smartphone.
4. Now turn off your device and enter fastboot mode (vol – and power button at the same time).
5. Download and extract TWRP.zip and run “doit1.bat” file.
6. Device will reboot. First startup will take around 10-15 minutes.
7. After reboot enter fastboot mode again and run “doit2.bat” file.
8. TWRP recovery should start. Disable password and allow changes to “system” partition. Make swipe to confirm.
9. Enter “Wipe” and select data format. Type “yes” and swipe to continue. Enter main menu again and press “Reboot” > “Power Off”.
10. Hold three buttons to enter TWRP again. Enter “Wipe” > “Advanced Wipe” > Select all partitions except “system” >  Swipe to confirm.
11. Enter main menu press “Reboot” > “Turn off”
12. Hold three buttons and enter TWRP again.
13. Copy International MIUI ROM to phone internal storage and install via TWRP.

That’s it! Now you’ve got unofficial international ROM installed on your device!

Remember! Do not wipe “system” partition or you’ll get bootloop and bricked Redmi 4 Prime in your hands.

In case you’ve stuck with doit1.bat file do the following:

1. Replace emmc_appsboot.mbn file to patched one and install with “clear all” option.
2. Skip steps with “doit1.bat” file and continue with “doit2.bat”.
