Firmware data: official Xiaomi servers, tracked by XiaomiFirmwareUpdater.

The links point to bigota.d.miui.com, cdnorg.d.miui.com and Xiaomi’s Alibaba Cloud bucket. Nothing has been altered. Once the download finishes, check that its MD5 matches the table. A corrupted file is the most common reason for a failed install. At the moment there is no newer pilot build for any 17T Pro region, so every version above is a regular stable release.

HyperOS 4 Outside China

Global owners are currently testing HyperOS 4 betas OS4.0.0.7 and OS4.0.0.5, and EEA testers have OS4.0.0.9 and OS4.0.0.6. Xiaomi doesn’t offer these betas for public download, so you won’t find them here. We will add the Global and EEA HyperOS 4 packages once they reach the stable channel. Until then, the China build is the only stable Android 17 firmware for the 17T Pro.

Rolling back is only possible with a Fastboot ROM and an unlocked bootloader, and the phone is wiped in the process. Anti-rollback protection can turn a downgrade into a hard brick if the newer firmware raised the rollback index. Never flash an older build that hasn’t been confirmed safe by other users. For a modified alternative, a xiaomi.eu build based on OS3.0.309.0 also exists. It is an unofficial ROM and needs an unlocked bootloader.

Which ROM Does My Xiaomi 17T Pro Need?

The answer is in Settings → About phone → OS version. Take OS3.0.311.0.WPSMIXM as an example and decode the letters at the end:

LettersMeaning
W / XW = Android 16, X = Android 17
PSXiaomi 17T Pro (the regular 17T is PT)
MIGlobal
EUEEA
RURussia
IDIndonesia
TRTurkey
TWTaiwan
JPJapan
CNChina
XMXiaomi-branded device

Match the region exactly. A …PSJPXM phone takes the Japan files, and a …PSEUXM phone takes the EEA files. The updater rejects Recovery ROMs from other regions. If your version string contains PT instead of PS, you have the standard model, and you need the Xiaomi 17T firmware.

Manual Update Guide for the Xiaomi 17T Pro

Method 1: Install via “Choose update package”

This works without a computer and keeps your apps and files.

  1. Charge the battery to 50% or more, and leave roughly 16 GB of free space.
  2. Download the Recovery ROM for your region. Use the same version or a newer one, never older.
  3. Put the ZIP in the top folder of internal storage, keeping the original file name.
  4. Go to Settings → About phone, open the HyperOS card, tap the ⋮ menu and pick Choose update package.
  5. Select the file. HyperOS checks it, installs it and reboots. Give the first boot a few minutes.

No such menu entry? Tap the HyperOS logo on the updater screen around ten times, and it will show up.

Method 2: Flash the Fastboot ROM with Mi Flash

Choose this for a clean install, to unbrick a bootlooping phone or to move between regions. The bootloader must be unlocked, and all data will be erased.

  1. Set up ADB, Fastboot and the USB drivers on a Windows computer.
  2. Download the Fastboot ROM. The archive is a .tgz of 9–14 GB, so extract it with 7-Zip into a short path such as C:\warhol.
  3. Switch the phone off, then hold Volume Down + Power to boot into Fastboot, and connect the USB cable.
  4. Confirm the device with fastboot getvar product. It should answer warhol.
  5. In Mi Flash, browse to the extracted folder, tick Clean all and click Flash.

Do not use “Clean all and lock”. Relocking is safe only on untouched stock firmware of the phone’s own region. Relock after flashing another region’s ROM, or with any modification in place, and the 17T Pro may refuse to boot. A service center is usually the only fix.

Unlocking, Root and Recovery

  • Global, EEA and other non-China units can be unlocked through Xiaomi’s official process. Our HyperOS unlock tutorial walks you through it.
  • China units: Xiaomi has removed bootloader unlocking completely, so there is no official way to unlock them.
  • China firmware on a Global phone can only be installed with an unlocked bootloader. Once you have done that, never relock.
  • Root: the usual route on HyperOS 3 is to patch init_boot.img from the Fastboot ROM of your exact build with Magisk or KernelSU, then flash it with Fastboot.
  • The 17T and 17T Pro share one community discussion thread. Always check that a recovery or mod is meant for warhol before flashing it.

FAQ

Do I lose data with the Recovery ROM?

No, provided it’s the same region and the same or a newer version. Mi Flash with Clean all, on the other hand, wipes the phone completely.

Can I flash the China HyperOS 4 ROM on my Global 17T Pro?

Only after unlocking the bootloader and wiping the phone. You would then have to keep the bootloader unlocked for good. Most users are better off waiting for the Global stable release.

“Couldn’t verify update package” — what does it mean?

The ROM doesn’t match your region, it is older than the installed build, or the file is damaged. Re-check the region letters and the MD5.

Is there firmware for the regular Xiaomi 17?

Yes. See the Xiaomi 17 firmware downloads.
