Upcoming MIUI 9 ROM – Latest News, Supported Devices and Features

Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 ROM will be based on Android 7.0 Nougat and will include upgraded user interface, “picture-in-picture” (PiP) mode, screen split option and many other interesting features and customization options. The official release is planned in the begging – mid August. The most possible release date is 16 august, 2017.

MIUI 9 will focus on smoothness, stability and functionality. We thing it’s definitely worth waiting for these updates! In addition, it has been reported that users will get to choose and setup unique icons for different applications. Another great feature (the one I’m actually really interested in) is a inbuilt screen recording application.

MIUI 9 Closed Beta Test

It has been reported that Xiaomi has started a closed beta test of MIUI 9 on a limited number of devices. Basically it is now available for MIUI developers and official beta-testers team. This closed beta test will last until the end of the month.

MIUI 9 Screenshots

Recently some screenshots of MIUI 9 appeared on the web. Many news sources thought this is new look of upcoming interface. However, official Xiaomi representatives made a statement, that this is wrong information, and these aren’t the screenshots of MIUI 9. As far as the information goes, these were just a “possible” design of one of the available MIUI 9 themes. The thing you should know, is that this is not how MIUI 9 will look like.

MIUI 9 Supported Phones

It’s assumed that MIUI 9 update will be available for many of currently released Xiaomi phones. First of all, new update will be available on Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi 5 (Mi 5S & Mi 5S Plus), Mi 5C, Mi Mix & Mi Max, Mi Pad 3, Redmi 4X, Redmi Note 4. Other device models will get the MIUI 9 update a little bit later.

Upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5A Technical Details

Redmi 5A will receive a 5-inch display. The battery with the capacity of 3080 mAh will answer the autonomous work questions. Xiaomi will also equip the smartphone with a 13-megapixel Samsung S5K3L8 camera module, which we have already seen in Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 devices.

The remaining technical specifications will include a Snapdragon 430 processor, 2 or 3 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage memory. The display resolution will be 1280×720 pixels.

According to unverified information, the Redmi 5A will inherit from its predecessor with a dual SIM slot, LTE support and a 5-megapixel front camera. Judging by the prices for the previous models of the manufacturer, the price for Xiaomi Redmi 5A device will be probably a little more than $100. In the end we should get a very affordable high-end device. Let’s hope that the guys from Xiaomi will not let us down!

Latest news about Xiaomi Mi6 smartphone

Yesterday at the Geek Park Innovation conference Xiaomi’s co-founder and vice-president Li Wanqiang revealed some details and upcoming “surprise” from Xiaomi company. We assume that they are talking about the future Xiaomi Mi6 device.

The most interesting part is that Mi6 is announced to be released in the begging of this spring, March 2017 (honestly, we can’t wait to get our hands on this device). Most likely Mi6 will cost around 1.999 yuan or $290. Mi6 body will be made from metal and glass materials, and it will have the same ultrasonic fingerprint scanner as last year Xiaomi Mi5S.

There will be two different versions of Xiaomi Mi6. One with flat display and another version with curved “edge” display. As it appears, Mi6 curved “edge” display version will cost around $360.

We also hope that were won’t be any delays at the start of sales. Xiaomi Mi6 will be equiped with top-notch Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and Android 7.0 Nougat.

Xiaomi company just published a new teaser of upcoming Xiaomi Mi5S, according to which the new device will be shown on 27 September during the presentation in the exhibition center China National Convention Center in Beijing. In accordance with the latest leaks, Xiaomi Mi5S can get 5,15 inch screen with 3D Touch technology support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at 2.4 GHz, GPU Adreno 530, 3/4/6 GB of RAM, and 64/128/256 GB drive. In addition to this, the device will be equipped with a 3490 mAh battery that supports a function of fast charge with Quick Charge 3.0.

As for the camera, there are rumors that Xiaomi Mi5S will be equipped with 8 megapixel and 16-megapixel main camera with  f/1.8, image stabilization and dual LED-flash, thanks to which user can now easily record videos in 4k with 30 fps. Smartphone with two SIM-cards will also support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G / 3G / 2G and NFC.

Together with Xiaomi Mi5S developers can also showcase another fresh device Mi5S Plus, which will also be running on Snapdragon 821. Xiaomi Mi5S Plus model will be equipped with 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 2K, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, as well as ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

According to the latest rumors during the upcoming September presentation Xiaomi developers will show 5.7-inch smartphone Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Pro.

Most likely, this device will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.6 GHz and 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro 2 will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 8 6.9.8 firmware.

I’m actually very interested in seeing this device and may be even bought it.
