In this post you’ll find a complete guide on how to flash Indian Global ROM on Redmi Note 9S device without unlocking the bootloader.

Warning! This instructions can lead to a bootloop in random cases. Proceed at your own risk!

Before proceed with the following tutorial, here are some recommendations for you. First of all, you’ll need to synchronise your device with Mi Account and disable drivers signature check on your Windows 10 PC. It’s also highly recommended to install ADB and Fastboot drivers on your PC.

Now we are ready to continue with the main tutorial.

How to Install Indian Global Firmware without Unlocking The Bootloader on Redmi Note 9S

Download the XiaoMITool V2. We recommend the 9.8.7 version. Here’s a download link: XMT2_Windows_Setup_9.8.7.exe

Download Indian Global Recovery ROM .zip archive on your PC.

Move the downloaded ROM archive into the folder with XiaoMITool, by default it’s “C:/Xiaomi/XiaomiTool2/res/tmp”.

Enable USB debugging in the developers settings on your phone.

Connect your device to PC via USB cable and enable file transferring.

Start the XiaoMITool.

Open XiaoMITool setting and select the region.

Close settings and click on “Continue”

Wait until the drivers are successfully installed.

Select the required mode – “My device works normally I want to mod it.”

You should see your device serial code in the list.

Press “Select”.

Your phone will reboot in the “fastboot” mode.

Check the XiaoMITool, then press volume up on your phone to enter the recovery mode on reboot. If this didn’t worked and your phone didn’t reboot in recovery mode automatically, you’ll need to do it manually.

Use volume buttons to navigate and select “Connect with MIAssistant” and press “power” button to confirm.

Check the XiaoMITool once again if there is any useful information.

Wait until the check is completed.

If everything is good you’ll see the “Please choose procedure category”. Select the suitable one depending on the ROM you’re using. In our case it is “Official Xiaomi ROM” > “India Stable”.

XiaoMITool will require you to enable ADB.

Reboot your phone in fastboot mode.

Once the firmware is identified and checked, reboot in recovery and enter “Connect with MIAssistant” mode. The flashing process should start on this step.

If you see that installation process is stuck on 90%, don’t panic and just wait, that’s pretty normal. Do not turn off or reboot. In case you see an error at the end or start seeing a bootloop, again don’t panic, reboot into recovery and do a format, then reboot once again.

Share your comments and suggestions regarding this tutorial in the comments below and good luck to you!

This guide will show you how to unlock Bootloader on Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. If you follow the steps below, you shouldn’t face any problems. The procedure explained above is tested on multiple Mi Mix 2 devices, and every time it worked perfectly. During the testings, we used a computer running Windows 10.

However, keep in mind that I am not responsible if anything happens to your device, and you perform this process at your own risk. A good practice is to back up all your important data before you proceed. Also, make sure that your phone battery is at least 80%.

Steps to unlocking Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (Chiron)

First, disable signature enforcement in your Windows operating system. If you do not know how to do that, check the following link.

Now, install ADB and Fastboot tools with drivers on your Windows. For more information on how to do that you can check the following link.

Next, enable Developer Operations on your device. Go to Settings > About Phone > MIUI version. Then, click on MIUI version seven times to activate the feature. Once it is activated, go to Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options. Check the boxes “OEM unlocking“ and “USB debugging.”

Check if your Bootloader is locked.

Once you got ADB and Fastboot installed on your computer, enter into Fastboot Mode on your Android device. (Hold Volume Down + Power and connect your Android device to your computer via USB cable, preferably the original one).

Navigate to the folder where you have installed ADB and Fastboot. Then, open command window inside that folder (Shift + Right Click on an empty space into the folder, and select Open Command Window Here or Open PowerShell Window Here).

Now, enter the following command in the CMD window:

fastboot devices

If you do not see your Android device type the following line:

fastboot oem device-info

Now, you will get info about your bootloader. If it is locked, you will get the following (or similar) message:

(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.058s]
finished. total time: 0.063s

If you have an unlocked bootloader, you’ll get the following (or similar) message:

(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: true
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.053s]
finished. total time: 0.055s

Requesting Permission from Xiaomi to unlock your Bootloader

First, create a Mi Account (if you haven’t done it already). You can do int on the following link.

Then, sign in to Xiaomi and apply for bootloader unlocking here.
Note: When requesting the bootloader unlock you have to say the reason for doing that. Example: When I bought my Xiaomi phone it was running a custom (fake) ROM. I would like to install an original Xiaomi ROM. Please approve my request for unlocking the bootloader.

Now, you need to wait for the permission. Usually, they approve the requests for 24 hours (That is what the majority of users are reporting). However, there are some rare cases when the waiting time is up to 10 days. If your request is approved, you will get a message similar to this one:
“You’ve been granted the permission to unlock your device (Mi Account xxxx). Download Mi Unlock Tool At http://en.miui.com/unlock“

Sync your Mi Account with your Mi Device

Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options > Mi Unlock status and check “Add account and device.”
If for any reason you cannot connect your Mi Account to your device, try one of the following fixes.

Install the FlyVPN app on your device. Connect to one of the Chinese servers. Then, try to connect your Mi Account to your device.

Get the Developer Version firmware for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. You can download it on the following link.
Transfer the firmware file into the internal memory of your device.
Go to Settings > About Phone > System Update. In the upper right corner, you can see three dots. Click them and click on “Choose update package.”
Then click on “File Manager” and select the Developer Version package that you’ve downloaded before. Click OK to install the firmware. Once the installation finishes, try to connect your Mi account to the device.

Unlocking the Bootloader – Finally!

First, get the Mi Unlock tool. You can download it here.

Enter Fastboot Mode on your Mi device. (Hold down together Volume Down + Power and connect the device to your computer using USB cable, preferably the original one.

Launch the Mi Unlock tool

Type in your email and your password of your Mi account.

While your device is connected to your computer, start the procedure.

Follow the Mi Unlock tool instructions.

Once the procedure finishes, restart your device.

Note: In rare cases, users get a message saying “You can unlock your device after 72 hours” or something similar, you have to wait for that time to pass.

However, if you are following the steps above, and if you are patient enough you will definitely get your bootloader unlocked.

You’ve probably already know about the required 360 hours that you’ll need to wait before you can unlock the bootloader on your Xiaomi smartphone. For a quite some time there was no working solution and all you have to do is to wait. Finally we found a solution that is actually working and been tested for a few times.

Solution to bypass 72 and 360 hours when unlocking Xiaomi MIUI phone

Basically you’ll need to have two different MIUI accounts with unlock permissions. If you don’t know how to request official unlock permission please check for the additional guides on our website. You can get the MI account with the permissions in around 3 hours time.

So, prepare two MI account with unlock permissions and let’s get started. This tutorial might seem a little bit complex at first sight, but there is nothing really complicated there.

Sign in the first MI account on your phone and sync with it in developer options. Turn off your device after the sync is successfully completed.

Now sign in to the same account in MiFlashUnlock software.

Turn on your phone in fastboot mode (press and hold volume button down and “Power” buttons at the same time until you’ll see a Mi logo on the screen).

Connect your phone to PC via USB-cable, press “Accept” and continue with installations. The progress bar should appear and when it goes to 99% you’ll see an error message with 72-360 hours wait request.

Disconnect your phone and press “Power” button to turn it on.

Sign out from the 1st account on your device and then sign in to the second account. After you’ve successfully signed into to don’t do nothing and just turn your phone off immediately. Then start in the fastboot mode again.

In MiFlashUnlock sign out the first account and use the second account to log in.

Now connect your phone to PC once again and start the process of unlocking. Everything should work and 360 hours wait time should be skipped.

For those who already tried the unlocking with one single Mi Account and currently waiting for the time to pass, you can just get the second account and start from the Step 6 of this guide. This helped me a lot. If you got your own solutions and corrections to the method above, please share your thoughts and ideas in the comment below. Your help is appreciated!
