Big thanks to Xiaomi for starting the development on Mi Flash Pro, this is a revolution in modifying, flashing and bootloader unlocking. In addition Mi Flash Pro is a universal tool for both MTK and Qualcomm devices. Comes with inbuilt SP FlashTool and Mi Flash software.

In order to use MiFlashPro with it’s full power you must have Mi account.

Here are some interesting features to pay attention to:

1. Download required firmware ROM right from the MiFlashPro.
2. Recovery mode flashing without unlocking the bootloader.
3. Factory reset from Custom ROMs.
4. Fingerprint reset.

Step-by-step guide on how to flash MIUI ROM on Redmi 4A

First steps and required drivers for Redmi 4A

1. Download and install ADB Driver Lite
2. TWRP Recovery.
3. SuperSU for root (optionally)
4. ADB/Fastboot utilities
5. Downloaded ROM .zip file for recovery.

How to backup your Redmi 4A device

There are many ways on how you can backup Xiaomi Redmi 4A device. We are going to describe one below.

To backup contacts, SMS, calls, calendar and etc. you can use Super Backup SMS & Contacts application. Root is not required. You can download it from Play Market.

Flash Redmi 4A via Recovery

1. Enable developer options. Open “Settings” > “About” > and tap 7 times on “MIUI version” until you’ll see notification that you’re now a developer.
2. Now go to “Settings” > “System” > “Additional settings” > “Developer options” and enable “OEM Unlock” and “USB Debugging”.
3. Turn your device in fastboot mode. Turn off, then press “Volume Down” + “Power” buttons at the same time, release the buttons after short vibration signal and wait until fastboot logo appears.
4. Connect your device to PC.
5. Check the Xiaomi Redmi 4A bootloader status via ADB tools. If the bootloader is locked, request official unlock permission and unlock Redmi 4A with Mi Unlock tool. If you’ve got unlocked bootloader, continue to the next step.
6. Now flash TWRP Custom Recovery. Download Redmi4a.zip archive, unpack and run Flash-TWRP.bat. Follow instructions on the screen. If everything was done correctly, your device will automatically reboot into TWRP Custom Recovery. In TWRP, you’ll probably need to change language to English.
   • Press the second button on the third line to enter TWRP settings > Press the globe icon > Change language to English.
7. Disconnect your device from PC.
8. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery again.
9. Go to “Wipe” > “Advanced” and select all partitions, except Micro SD Card.
10. Reboot into recovery.
11. Install downloaded ROM version. Go to “Install” > select ROM .zip file. In case you want to enable root, also install SuperSU. Swipe to confirm. Wait until installation is completed.
12. Reboot into system. First startup will take longer than usual.

Flash TWRP or Stock Recovery on OnePlus 3 / 3T

1. Before installing recovery, you must have unlocked bootloader and know how to use fastboot.
2. Download required recovery version and rename the downloaded file into recovery.img
3. Go to the folder with unpacked ADB / fastboot tools. Hold “Shift” key and right mouse click, select “Open command window here”.
4. In the opened command window enter the following command, to check if device connected successfully:

   Fastboot devices

5. Now we will be flashing recovery by typing this command:

   fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

6. After flashing process is completed, disconnect your device from PC and turn off completely. To manually start in recovery mode, turn on and select “recovery” in the five second menu.

How to boot Redmi 4 and Redmi 4X in Recovery / TWRP Recovery mode

• Turn off your device > Press and hold “Power” and “Volume +” buttons at the same time.
• After short vibration signal release the power button and wait for TWRP to start.

• To boot in stock recovery open “Update” app.
• In the setting select “Boot in recovery”.

How to boot Redmi 4 and Redmi 4X in fastboot mode

• Turn off your device > Press and hold “Power” and “Volume -” buttons at the same time.
• After short vibration signal release the power button and wait for fastboot mode logo to appear.

To exit any of these modes: press and hold “Power” button until short vibration signal.

How to boot Redmi 3S and Redmi 3X in Recovery and fastboot mode

• Press and hold “Power” and “Volume -” buttons to boot into fastboot mode.
• Press and hold “Power”, “Volume +” and “Volume -” buttons to boot into Recovery.
• Press and hold “Power” and “Volume +” buttons to view mode select menu (works only on stock ROM)

How to fix recovery issues – Can’t find any backup files in recovery mode.

1. First try to make new backup of any partition and check again if you can find this freshly made backup in recovery mode.
2. Start your device normal way and copy your previous backup files in folder with latest made backups.
3. Reboot in recovery mode and try again.
4. Now recovery should be able to restore your old backups.

How to install TWRP recovery on Xiaomi Redmi Pro

1. Start your Redmi Pro in fastboot mode
2. Connect to PC via USB-cable.
3. Run flash_TWRP.bat from TWRP folder (download link below).
4. Reboot in TWRP recovery.
5. To change language from Chinese press the right button with Chinese symbols.
6. Pay attention! Before installing any Custom ROM you need to prepare the partitions or you’ll get bootloop or stuck at Mi logo.
7. Format “data” partition.
8. Then wipe “cache”, “dalvik” and “internal storage”.
9. Also you can format “system” partition.
10. After all required wipes and formats reboot in TWRP recovery again to install any custom ROM.

Installing Custom ROM on Redmi Pro via TWRP recovery

1. Reboot in TWRP recovery.
2. Go to “Mount” menu.
3. Disable and enable MTP.
4. Connect your device to PC via USB-cable and move downloaded ROM .zip file to phone internal storage.
5. Now install .zip ROM file from /sdcard. Then reboot in TWRP recovery and flash again for the second time.
6. Reboot to the system without wipes. First startup will take around 5 minutes.
7. We’ve got device with “DATA” partition formatted, cleared “Cache”, “Dalvik-Cache” and flashed “system” partition.

2. Copy download ROM archive to phone internal memory.

5. After installation clear “Cache” and “Dalvik”.
6. First startup will take around 10-20 minutes.

How to flash recovery with SP Flash Tool on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

1. Run SP Flash Tool

   

2. In the “Download-Agent” field, press “Choose” and enter the path to the “MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin” file. It is located in the folder with SP Flash Tool.

   

3. In the “Scatter-loading File” field, specify the path to the “MT6797_Android_scatter.txt” scatter file. It is located in the “images” folder of downloaded recovery ROM. In the drop-down menu select “Download Only”.
4. Remove all the checkboxes.
5. In field “recovery” click on the “Location” and select our recovery.img.
6. Make sure you’ve removed all the checkboxes and selected only “recovery” and the mode is “Download Only”.
7. If everything is correct press “Download” button.
8. Now turn off your smartphone and connect it via USB cable to your PC.
9. Right after you connect your device, progress bar in the bottom of the screen will turn red, and then yellow.
10. After about 5 seconds “Download OK” window should appear.
11. Disconnect your smartphone from PC.
12. Hold the “volume up” button and “power button” at the same time. After vibration signal, release the power button and continue to hold the “volume up”. After a few seconds device will boot into just flashed recovery.

Few notes:

• It’s recommended to use stock-kit USB-cable, or other high-quality cable.
• Use rear USB ports.
• Recommended SP Flash Tool version is 5.1620.
