Newbie tutorial on how to flash Xiaomi Mi Max Pro

Please, pay attention that authors of this tutorial are not responsible for any of your actions and possible issues. You do everything at your own risk! Make sure you know, what you’re doing.

How to flash official MIUI ROM with EDL (fastboot) – Locked / Unlocked bootloader

1. Make sure your phone is charged with at least 80%.
2. Download Official MIUI Fastboot ROM and unpack downloaded ROM in “C:\fastboot”. Make sure ROM files are in this folder, avoid subfolders.
3. Install MiFlash on your PC.
4. Enable “Developer Options”. Go to “Settings” > “About phone” and tap a few times on MIUI version.
5. Now go to “Settings” > “Additional Settings” > “Developer options” > Enable “USB Debugging”.
6. Start MiFlash Tool.
7. Insert USB cable to your PC (do not connect your phone yet).
8. Turn off your phone > press “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” and hold these buttons > now connect it with USB cable.
9. Release the buttons after short vibration signal.
   • If your phone doesn’t vibrate then try pressing “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” as well as “Power” button. After first vibration, release the power button, and then wait for the second vibration signal, after the second one release the volume buttons.
10. In MiFlash press “Refresh”. You should see device port number on the screen.
11. Now press “Select” to locate the folder with fastboot ROM files.
12. Make sure you’ve selected “Clean ALL” option.
13. Now press “Flash” to start flashing your Mi Max Pro phone. If everything was successful in the end you’ll “Success” message. Flashing could take around 15 minutes.
14. Disconnect your phone from PC and turn it on with the “Power” button.

How to flash Custom ROM on Mi Max Pro with locked / unlocked bootloader

If you haven’t previously flashed your phone and have no experience with TWRP, you may first try installing the official MIUI ROM since that is much easier. While Custom ROM installation is a little bit more complicated.

1. Download Custom ROM you want to flash. No need to unpack the .zip archive.
2. Download TWRP Custom Recovery for Mi Max Pro: TWRPMax(32Gb).rar | TWRPMax(64-128Gb).rar
3. Open MiFlash and install TWRP for your phone model. The process of flashing is described above. From the links above you can download TWRP Custom Recovery for MiFlash installation. You must first install the Global or China 8.0.3.0 MIUI ROM on your device before flashing TWRP. This will give you the option to install TWRP without unlocked bootloader. On newer ROM version you’ll have to unlock bootloader first and only after proceed to flashing custom recovery.
4. After you’ve flashed TWRP do not disconnect your device from PC.
5. Boot into Custom Recovery by pressing “Volume Up” + “Power” buttons. If TWRP asks for password, tap cancel and allow system partition modifications.
6. Go back to main menu and tap on “Wipe”. Select “Data”, “Cache” and “Dalvik” partitions.
7. Back to main menu again and reboot into system.
8. Go to “Mount” and enable “MTP”.
9. Copy downloaded custom ROM .zip archive to phone internal memory.
10. In “Mount” disable “MTP” and safely remove USB cable.
11. In case you see a checkmark against “system”, remove it to unmount “system” partition.
12. Now go to “Install” menu and select ROM .zip file. Confirm with swipe to continue. Flashing will take around 10-15 and you’ll see a successful message in the end.
13. Reboot into system.
14. You should see a Mi logo on a black screen. First startup will take around 10 minutes. If you can’t boot into the system, you can try rebooting into TWRP Custom Recovery and try installing ROM once again, this help sometimes.

Restore hardbrick Xiaomi Mi Max Prime / Unbricking Guide

1. First thing you’ll need to do is to disable driver signature enforcement.
   1. Open Command Prompt as administrator and run the commands below:

      bcdedit.exe /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
      bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON
      Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON

   2. Now reboot your PC.
   3. To return settings back to normal run these commands:

      Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks OFF
      bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING OFF
      bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

   4. You can find more methods here.
2. Now install “MiFlash Tool” and “MiPhone”.
3. Connect your device to PC via USB-cable (it’s recommended to use the stock cable from the original box), then press all three buttons: “Volume Up”, “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons. Wait for vibration signal (might take a while), now your device should be identified as “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E” or “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9008”, but MiFlash tool still wouldn’t be working at this point.
   • If your phone is still not recognizable, try reinstalling drivers on your PC.
4. Now release the “Power” button and keep holding “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” for around 60 seconds more. Your device should vibrate once again and boot into EDL mode (in device manager it will still be recognized as “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9008”).
5. Now you should be able to flash your device using the MiFlash Tool.
6. Download and flash China 7.3.15 MIUI ROM for fastboot. (other versions most probably won’t work). Select “Clean ALL” option.
7. Remove USB cable and disconnect your phone from PC.
8. Turn on your Mi Max Prime. First boot may require you to press and hold “Power” button for 10 seconds at least.
9. Next, if you want to flash Global ROM instead of China 7.3.15, then turn on developer options and enable “OEM Unlock” and “USB debugging”.
10. Now download latest Global ROM (by the moment it was Mi Max Prime Global V8.0.3.0.MBDMIDG (MIUI8)) and repeat the same steps, the same way we’ve flashed China ROM previously.

Flashing Android 7 Nougat Custom ROM on Xiaomi Redmi 3 / Redmi 3 Pro

1. Flash TWRP Recovery in case you don’t have it.
2. Boot into TWRP custom recovery. Press and hold all three buttons on your device and wait for vibration signal. After short vibration release the “Power” button and wait until TWRP starts.
3. In TWRP recovery make a backup of your current ROM version. You can backup “Boot”, “System” and “Data” partitions. Also it’s recommended to check “Use compression” option.
4. After backup is completed, go back to main menu and press “Wipe” > “Advanced Wipe”;
5. Wipe “Dalvik/ART Cache”, “System”, “Data” and “Cache” partitions.
6. After wipe return to main TWRP menu and select “Reboot” > “Reboot into recovery”.
7. After your device reboot in custom recovery select “Install” and locate the custom ROM you’ve previously downloaded.
8. Swipe to confirm flashing.
9. Wait until custom ROM installation process is completed.
10. Remember that you mush install Gapps before rebooting into system! In case you want to flash GApps, then download required package and copy it together with ROM .zip folder. Flash Gapps after you’ve flashed custom ROM, don’t reboot into system before flashing Gapps.

Unveiling the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Phablet

The first and most prominent feature of the Xiamoi Redmi Note 3 is the metal chassis which is crafted from aluminum ingot.

Accessing the buttons and the fingerprint scanner is effortless. You can pick the phone and almost automatically, your finger would be positioned on the scanner unlocking the phone. The flipside though, is that if your phone is resting on the table face-up, you’d have to flip it around to unlock it.

Good Display and fast processor

A display that reads a maximum resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 with a 5.5 inch screen seems pale in comparison to a lot of more recent entrants into the market. For example, the 1440×2560 and super LCD (5th generation) display of the recently launched HTC 10. But both these phones are poles apart when it comes to the pricing. At the price point, no other phone even comes close to the Redmi Note 3. Moreover, the display is crisp and vibrant and the 403ppi is decent enough.

The lack of the Corning’s Gorilla Glass may seem like a dampener. But according to Xiaomi, the glass on the Note 3 is pretty similar when it comes to durability and protection. In one of their tests and demos, they apparently ran a car over the Note 3. Slick!

The processor is one of the best features of the smartphone. It is the first phone to feature the 1.4GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650. This is similar to the Hexa Core in the pricier Moto X. Without getting overly technical, the phone manages to impress with its speed and performance. There are no lags or delays. You can run multiple apps at a time and even run demanding games without any problems whatsoever. The frame rates are smooth and jitter free.

Complete package

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 sums up a feature rich specification list with 3GB RAM, tons of storage space (32GB and a microSD slot for an additional 32GB), dual-SIM CARD slots and a huge 4000mAh battery that can outlast most other competitors.

The UI is fast, responsive and fluid and there are multiple modes including power saving modes and a performance mode which is intended for using resource intensive tasks like games.

If you are a pixel fanatic, then you will be impressed with the 16MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture that delivers stunning images in low light. There is a minimal amount of blur if you crop the pictures. But hey, this isn’t a DSLR. For a cell phone camera, the image quality is top notch.

How to flash Xiaomi Mi Max with MultiROM

1. Your device must be unlocked.
2. Install TWRP from fastboot
3. Get rid of the “data” – use this command “fastboot format userdata”
4. Enter TWRP from fastboot mode, make sure you bypass the system loading, or TWRP will be replaced with the original Mi Recovery firmware.
5. In TWRP mode your device will be recognized by the computer as a flash drive, just copy the MultiROM file to the internal memory.
6. If you didn’t format the “data” partion (it’s not encrypted), then you need to wipe “data”.
7. Install the firmware by clicking “Install” in TWRP.
