Xiaomi 17 Firmware: HyperOS 4 (Android 17) Recovery & Fastboot ROM Download [All Regions]

Last updated: November 8, 2026. Xiaomi has started rolling out HyperOS 4 based on Android 17 to the Xiaomi 17. On this page you will find the latest official firmware for every region (Global, EEA and China), with direct links to Xiaomi’s own servers. You will also learn how to check which ROM your phone needs and how to install the update yourself without waiting for the OTA notification.

Latest Xiaomi 17 Firmware (HyperOS 4 / Android 17)

All files are hosted on Xiaomi’s official update servers (bigota.d.miui.com / cdnorg.d.miui.com) and are not modified in any way. The India build of HyperOS 4 has not been released yet. We will add it here as soon as it appears.

“Pilot release” — what does it mean? The Global and EEA builds are currently in a staged rollout (Xiaomi calls it Pilot). Only part of the users get the OTA notification, but the full ROM works on any phone of the same region. Installing it manually is exactly what this guide is for.

Fastboot ROMs (for Mi Flash)

Fastboot ROMs are needed for Method 2 below: clean installs, region changes, unbricking and downgrades. HyperOS 4 Fastboot packages for Global and EEA haven’t been published yet. Until then, these are the newest official Fastboot ROMs per region:

Previous Stable Versions

Downgrading needs a Fastboot ROM and an unlocked bootloader, and it wipes all data. Xiaomi also uses anti-rollback protection: if the new firmware raised the rollback index, flashing an older ROM can hard-brick the phone. Only downgrade to builds that other owners have confirmed as safe.

Which ROM Does My Xiaomi 17 Need?

Go to Settings → About phone and look at the OS version, for example OS3.0.337.0.XPCMIXM. The letters at the end tell you everything:

Always install a ROM of the same region your phone already runs (MI → MI, EU → EU). A Recovery ROM from a different region will fail to install anyway. Switching regions is only possible with a Fastboot ROM and an unlocked bootloader.

How to Update Xiaomi 17 to HyperOS 4 Manually

Method 1: Built-in Updater (no PC, data stays)

1. Back up important data. The update keeps your files, but a backup is always a good idea.
2. Charge the phone to at least 50% and free up around 16 GB of storage.
3. Download the Recovery ROM for your region from the table above, directly on the phone.
4. Move the ZIP to the root of internal storage (not into the Download folder) and do not rename it.
5. Open Settings → About phone → HyperOS (the version card), tap the three dots in the top-right corner and choose Choose update package.
6. Select the ZIP. The phone checks the package, installs it and reboots. The first boot can take 5–10 minutes.

If Choose update package is not shown, tap the HyperOS logo on the update screen repeatedly (about 10 times) until the option appears.

Method 2: Fastboot ROM with Mi Flash (clean install)

This method needs an unlocked bootloader and erases all data. Use it to fix a bootloop, to switch regions or to downgrade.

1. Install ADB, Fastboot and the USB driver on your PC.
2. Download the Fastboot ROM (.tgz) for your region from the Fastboot ROM table above and extract it to a short path such as C:\pudding.
3. Open the latest Mi Flash Tool and select the extracted folder.
4. Turn the phone off, hold Power + Volume Down to enter Fastboot and connect it. Check the codename with fastboot getvar product. It must say pudding.
5. At the bottom of Mi Flash, select Clean all and click Flash.

Important: never choose Clean all and lock if you flash a ROM from a different region than your phone (for example Global on a China unit) or if the bootloader was unlocked unofficially. Re-locking a mismatched phone makes it unbootable, and only an authorized service center can fix that.

What’s New in HyperOS 4 for Xiaomi 17

• Performance: new workload scheduling and memory preloading for faster app launches, smoother gaming frame rates and lower power use in CPU and GPU tasks.
• “Alive” design: a new Soft Glass material with transparency that adapts to the wallpaper, dynamic light effects, and more lock screen clock options (font, width, height and position).
• Stacked notifications on the lock screen and in the notification shade.
• Resizable folders on the home screen: drag the edges to resize.
• AI in Notes and Recorder: real-time transcription, summary templates (meeting, interview, class) and a timeline for recordings.
• Xiaomi Smart Hub with device cards for the “Human × Car × Home” ecosystem.
• Screen lock password reset: forgot your PIN? Within 96 hours after adding a fingerprint, you can use the old password and that fingerprint to set a new one.

The EEA 4.0.1.0 build also fixes Gboard display issues, home screen icon glitches, unresponsive widgets and wrong weather info. The China 4.0.6.0 build brings camera location recommendations and fixes for QR scanning, hotspot sharing with tablets and the floating window.

Bootloader Unlock, Root and Custom Recovery

• Global, EEA and India units can be unlocked officially through the Xiaomi Community app and Mi Unlock. See our step-by-step HyperOS unlock guide.
• China units cannot be unlocked officially: Xiaomi closed bootloader unlocking for mainland China devices. Be careful with phones sold online as “Global version”. Many of them are China units with a re-flashed ROM, and they cannot be unlocked.
• Community TWRP builds for pudding exist, but they are unofficial. For root, most users patch init_boot.img from the Fastboot ROM with KernelSU or Magisk instead of using TWRP.

FAQ

Will installing the Recovery ROM delete my data?

No, as long as you install a newer ROM of the same region with Choose update package. Fastboot flashing with Clean all does erase everything.

The update says “Couldn’t verify update package”. What now?

You most likely downloaded a ROM for a different region or an older version than the one installed. Check the region letters in About phone and download the matching file again. A broken download also causes this error, so re-download if in doubt.

Can I install the Global ROM on a China Xiaomi 17?

Only with an unlocked bootloader. Since China units can no longer be unlocked officially, the answer for most owners is no. Also, the China model has no eSIM chip, so the eSIM option that appears in some Global ROMs will not work.

When will my Xiaomi 17 get HyperOS 4 over the air?

Xiaomi does not publish exact dates. Pilot rollouts usually expand to all users of a region within a few weeks. You can install the same build today with Method 1 above.
