Firmware data: official Xiaomi servers, tracked by XiaomiFirmwareUpdater.
None of these packages are repacked or modified. After downloading, compare the MD5 of the file with the value in the table. If they don’t match, the download is broken and the phone will refuse it. A Pilot build is one that Xiaomi is sending to a small share of users first. The file itself is a normal full ROM and installs on any Xiaomi 17T of the same region.
HyperOS 4 (Android 17) Status
Xiaomi is testing HyperOS 4 on the 17T. Global units are on beta builds OS4.0.0.11 and OS4.0.0.8, and EEA units are on OS4.0.0.10 and OS4.0.0.7. These betas are not publicly downloadable, so we don’t link them. A stable China build, OS4.0.3.0.XPTCNXM, has been reported, but its full package isn’t in our firmware database yet. We will add the HyperOS 4 downloads here as soon as stable builds appear on Xiaomi’s servers.
Previous Builds
| Region | Older stable or pilot build (Android 16) |
|---|---|
| Global | OS3.0.307.0.WPTMIXM |
| EEA | OS3.0.317.0.WPTEUXM |
| Taiwan | OS3.0.302.0.WPTTWXM (pilot) |
| China | OS3.0.301.0.WPTCNXM (pilot) |
Going back to an older build means flashing a Fastboot ROM. That requires an unlocked bootloader and wipes the phone. Be careful with anti-rollback protection: if a newer build has raised the rollback index, flashing an older one can brick the device. Only downgrade to versions that other owners have confirmed are safe.
Which ROM Does My Xiaomi 17T Need?
Go to Settings → About phone and read the OS version, for example OS3.0.308.0.WPTMIXM. The letters after the numbers tell you which file to pick:
| Letters | Meaning |
|---|---|
W / X | Android base: W = Android 16, X = Android 17 |
PT | Xiaomi 17T device code (the 17T Pro uses PS) |
MI | Global |
EU | EEA (European Economic Area) |
IN | India |
ID | Indonesia |
RU | Russia |
TR | Turkey |
TW | Taiwan |
CN | China |
XM | Xiaomi-branded device |
A phone showing …PTEUXM needs the EEA files, and one showing …PTINXM needs the India files. Stay on your own region. A Recovery ROM from a different region will fail verification, and switching regions is only possible with a Fastboot ROM on an unlocked phone. Got the Pro model? Use the Xiaomi 17T Pro firmware page instead. The files aren’t interchangeable.
How to Update the Xiaomi 17T Manually
Method 1: Choose Update Package (no PC, keeps data)
- Charge the phone to at least 50% and make sure about 16 GB of storage is free.
- Download the Recovery ROM (.zip) for your region. It must be newer than or equal to the version you have now.
- Copy the file to the root of internal storage without renaming it.
- Open Settings → About phone, tap the HyperOS version card, then tap the three-dot menu and select Choose update package.
- Pick the ZIP and confirm. The phone verifies the package, installs it and restarts. The first boot can take several minutes.
If the menu item is missing, tap the HyperOS logo on the update screen about ten times to unlock the extra options.
Method 2: Fastboot ROM with Mi Flash (clean flash)
Use this to recover from a bootloop, return to stock after modding or change regions. It needs an unlocked bootloader and deletes everything on the phone.
- Install ADB, Fastboot and the Xiaomi USB drivers on your Windows PC.
- Download the Fastboot ROM (.tgz). These archives are 8–13 GB, so extract them with 7-Zip into a short folder like
C:\chagall. Long paths or paths with spaces make Mi Flash fail. - Power the phone off, hold Power + Volume Down until the Fastboot screen appears, and plug it in.
- Run
fastboot getvar product. The output must readchagall. - Launch Mi Flash, select the extracted folder, choose Clean all at the bottom and press Flash.
Warning: never select Clean all and lock. Re-locking is only safe on completely stock firmware of the phone’s original region. If the ROM comes from another region, or anything on the phone has been modified, a relocked Xiaomi 17T will not boot, and usually only a service center can fix it.
Bootloader Unlock, Root and Custom Recovery
- Non-China units (Global, EEA, India and others) can be unlocked the official way. Follow our HyperOS bootloader unlock guide.
- China units cannot be unlocked at all. Xiaomi has removed bootloader unlocking for them.
- China ROM on a Global phone: only possible with an unlocked bootloader. If you have done this, never relock the bootloader.
- Root: extract
init_boot.imgfrom the Fastboot ROM that matches your installed build, patch it with Magisk or KernelSU and flash it in Fastboot. - Custom recovery: unofficial OrangeFox R12.0 and an unofficial TWRP 3.7.1 beta exist for
chagall. Neither is an official release, so keep a Fastboot ROM at hand before you try them.
FAQ
Is the Pilot build safe to install?
It is an official build signed by Xiaomi that is simply rolling out in stages. If you prefer to wait, install the stable version listed for your region instead.
Why does the phone reject the update package?
Usually because the ROM belongs to a different region, is older than your current build, or the download is incomplete. Check the region letters and the MD5, then try again.
Can I install HyperOS 4 on my Global Xiaomi 17T now?
Not from this page. The Global and EEA builds are still in beta. Installing the China HyperOS 4 build would need an unlocked bootloader and a full wipe, and you could never safely relock afterwards.
Where is the firmware for the regular Xiaomi 17?
The Xiaomi 17 uses different files. Get them from our Xiaomi 17 firmware page.
