Here you can learn how to create a custom splash screen (boot logo) for Redmi Note 3. That is the MI logo that shows up when you switch the device. However, keep in mind that this is not a boot animation.

This method works on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Kenzo/Pro/International) with Snapdragon.

Tutorial on how to create custom boot logo for MIUI smartphone

Requirements

You need a rooted Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (with any ROM).

Optional: Installed Custom Recovery, Terminal Emulator or working fastboot on your computer.

Keep in mind that you are performing this procedure at your own risk.

How to Create the Splash Image

Download and extract this file Redmi_Note_3_Splash_Maker.zip

Make sure you create (or select) a picture with a resolution of 1080x1920px or lower.

By default, Redmi Note 3 logo (splash image) has a fixed size of 75Kb. So, you should use only light-weight images. My recommendation is to stick with 2 or 3 colors (black and white for example). You might need to try different variants before getting the final one.

Rename your final image to logo.jpg or logo.png according to its format.

Place the image file inside the pics folder of the extracted folder (Redmi Note 3 Splash Maker).

Now, run the CREATE_Logo.bat to make the splash.img file. Once you finish that, you can find the file inside the output folder.

Possible Issues when Creating Splash.img

You may get an error PICTURE IS LARGE IN SIZE if its size does not meet the requirements (75Kb max size). In that case, you can try any of the following methods.

Try compressing your image using compersspng.com. That can reduce the number of colors in one PNG image. Upload your picture > click on Settings > Reduce the number of colors to 2 > Apply the changes > Download the new image.

Try reducing the image resolution. Use any of the popular image editing software (Photoshop or similar). Open the image using the photo editing software, and reduce the image resolution (it cannot be bigger than 1080×1920 px).

If the previous methods didn’t give you the expected results, you should try with a different image.

How to Flash Splash.img

Once you got the splash.img file ready, it is time to flash it on your device.

Flash Using Custom Recovery

Transfer the flasable_splash.zip file to your device.

Boot your device into Custom Recovery (TWRP, or CWM, or Philz, or any other custom recovery).

Locate it in the memory and flash it.

Flash Using Terminal Emulator

First, transfer the splash.img file to your device’s internal memory.

Launch Terminal Emulator and enter the following code to flash the file.

su

dd if=/sdcard/splash.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/splash

Flash Using Fastboot Mode

Connect your device to your computer.

Launch fastboot on your computer.

Type in the following command:
fastboot flash splash splash.img

In case something went wrong, or your device doesn’t boot up, you can always flash the stock splash.img using the same procedures explained above (using custom recovery or fastboot).

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a very capable device, and many users run MIUI on it as that software comes preinstalled and includes many features. However, one of the biggest disadvantages of MIUI is the lack of support for adoptable storage out-of-the-box. In other words, it means that if you own a device with limited storage (e.g. 16GB), you will have a problem once it runs out of space.

In this article, you can find the solution to this problem. With only a few commands you can activate the adaptable storage feature. So, you can move apps to an external memory (SD card). The solution explained above should also work on other devices running Android 6 (and do not support adoptable memory out-of-the-box). Additionally, you DO NOT need to root your device to make this work.

Adoptable Storage on Redmi Note 3 with Android 6 (No Root Required)

What You Need

Before starting the procedure explained below, make sure you have the following things.

Computer

Phone running Android 6 (or above)

Fast MicroSD card (preferably UHS class 1 or above)

Backup of all your important files from the SD card (it will be formatted during the process)

How to Enable the Adaptable Storage

Before performing the steps keep in mind that we are not responsible if you get any troubles during the procedure. You are doing this at your own risk.

Enable Developer Options on your Android device (Settings > About Phone > Tap 7 times on “MIUI Version”)

Enable “Stay Awake”

Disable “MIUI Optimization”

Enable “USB Debugging”

Download and install “ADB and Fastboot” on your PC (or Mac)

Download link: platform-tools_r27.0.1-windows – Check this post for more info.

Connect your Android device via USB to your computer.

Run a command window and type the following commands (make sure you run it as administrator).

adb shell

sm set-force-adoptable true

sm list-disks

Now, you should get a result like this disk:179,64

sm partition disk:xxx,xx private/mixed xx

This command is reformating your SD card. Change xxx,xx according to your results from above (e.g. 179,64).

Use private in the command if you want to use the whole SD card as adoptable storage.

Type mixed xx in the command if you want a specific percentage of the SD card formatted as “portable” storage (e.g. mixed 60). That will leave 40% adoptable storage.

Check the success on your Android device (Settings > Storage).

sm list-volumes

Now, you should get a result like this: private:179,67 mounted fb705131-c6a0-4e3a-959b-605a64364c8c

pm move-primary-storage xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx

Migrate data to the adoptable storage, cahnge the xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx part according to the prior results (e.g. fb705131-c6a0-4e3a-959b-605a64364c8c).

Check the process on your Android device (“Moving data” in your status bar).

Install the QuickShortcutMaker app from the PlayStore.

Find “com.android.settings” in the Activity-tab.

Find “com.android.settings.Applications.ManageApplications”

Now, create a shortcut for it on your home screen.

Reboot your device.

Use the shortcut you’ve created to manage apps and move them to the adoptable storage (named as “External Storage”).

Additional Notes

Keep in mind that not all apps can be moved to the adoptable storage.

The system settings may not show the correct storage sizes. You should use “MI File Manager instead.

All the icons of applications stored in the adoptable storage will be moved to your home screen after every reboot. If you want to keep them in folders, you will have to do it manually after each reboot.

If you want to install new updates, you will have to move the downloaded update to your SD card manually. Then choose it as a source file in the Updater app.

This EFS Recovery guide is for those who have corrupted EFS or erased EFS partition. Just in case, before proceeding with this guide you must backup what you have left. For backup use TWRP recovery if something goes wrong, you can restore with using the TWRP backup. Follow these instructions at your own risk.

Restore EFS on Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon Variants Only)

Do these instructions if you erased your EFS or is corrupted, if not then follow the next guide to change your IMEI number. Sometimes you lose your IMEI only and not the whole partition.

Instructions:

Download this file: EFS Backup(Kenzo) EFS Backup[Dump][Kenzo].rar

Extract the Dump backup files and flash them using this commands:

Fastboot flash modemst1 modemst1
Fastboot flash modemst2 modemst2

The final step is to reboot, and you will have new EFS partition.

Note:

Your IMEI and Baseband will be shown as unknown if your EFS is erased or corrupted. The first thing you must do is to recover the EFS and then change IMEI. If your IMEI is shown as 0, your EFS is safe and probably your IMEI is gone. In that case, don’t recover EFS just change the IMEI number.

In TWRP, backup of kate won’t show on Kenzo and the backup up Kenzo won’t show on kate, next you will try the dump flashing method or try changing the TWRP recovery.

These instructions are only to restore your EFS partition, but the IMEI will be still gone, next step you must do is to change your IMEI.

After flashing new EFS, your Mac and BT address will not recover. Android system will assign a software generated address to both devices. Even without the EFS partition, there will be a Mac and BT address assigned to your device, and they will work regularly.

Change IMEI Number

Requirements:

Root

USB debugging is turn on

Windows Driver Signature is turned off

ADB and Fastboot Binary files

Latest MiFlash installed for the latest drivers

Instructions:

Connect your device to PC and open the ADB folder. Then open command prompt window.

Press Shift + Right Click anywhere in the adb folder

Click on Open Command Window Here

Type the following command to enable Diagnostics mode, if you are asked allow debugging. Code:

Adb shell
Su
Setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb

Download IMEI Changer from this link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzSbfkkOZMR0cGRfak1JYkt2REE/view

Open the IMEI Changer and enter IMEI number in both the fields and click start. After a short moment, it will show as passed.

Note: Make sure the driver in driver management under ports is listed as “ Qualcomm HS-USB Android DIAG 901D” and not as “Marshall London HS-USB Android DIAG 901D”. If it listed in any other name, go to driver management and update driver. Select browse driver, then let me pick a driver from a list. Next step is to select “Qualcomm HS-USB Android DIAG 901D” and then finish.

Xiaomi Inc. has a beautiful lineup of amazing phones, each one with their own personality, functionality, and elegant design. As such, there is a perfect phone for practically anyone looking for a high quality, reliable smartphone.

The three most popular phones part of the Xiaomi lineup include the Redmi Note 3, the Mi 5, and the Mi 6; each offering something a little different in terms of storage, processing power, camera quality, and price range. The following is therefore a run down of what each has to offer.

Smart choice for Xiaomi phone in 2018

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Buy Redmi Note 3 at GearBest.com

With a price point of around $250, the Redmi Note 3 is still a rather robust, dependable smartphone for almost any user. Coming with a 16GB or 32GB internal storage that can be expanded to 128GB, this phone is perfect for individuals who like to occasionally take photos or want to have a few “go-to” applications downloaded.

Speaking of photos, however, the Redmi Note 3 offers a 16MP rear facing camera, but only comes with a standard single lens system. This can be an issue when compared to the better camera quality and dual lens system found on the other two phones, but is still of remarkable quality for individuals.

Out of all three phones, the Redmi Note 3 also offers the greatest battery capacity, offering just over 4000mAh

The Redmi 3 also comes in three distinct colors: grey, silver, and gold; allowing you a bit of customization in terms of what color you want to show off.

Xiaomi Mi 5

Buy Xiaomi Mi5 at GearBest.com

The Mi 5 costs $350 but is definitely an upgrade to the Redmi Note 3. Not only is the Mi 5 significantly lighter, weighing only 129g, but the overall body is a bit smaller as well, having just a 5.15in display size compared to the Note 3’s 5.5in display. This form factor makes the Mi 5 perfect for individuals who want a smaller, more compact, and lighter phone, especially if you find yourself carrying this phone around at all times.

In terms of camera quality, the Mi 5 still rocks an amazing 16MP, but this time comes with a 4 axis optical image stabilization system, giving users a much smoother photography and videography experience.

The lens is also covered with a durable sapphire glass to prevent scratches, ensuring that your photos are of high quality for many years to come. And in terms of low light photography, the Mi 5 also offers low light photo enhancement by putting together multiple images taken together.

The Mi 5 also has a faster processor but the same storage capacity as the Redmi Note 3.

Xiaomi Mi 6

In terms of pure aesthetics, the Mi 6 is definitely an upgrade. Buy at GearBest

Coming in at around $500,the Mi 6 is truly a powerful, slick smartphone that is a must have for people who love massive storage and truly stellar camera quality. Coming with a Snapdragon 835, 10nm processor, the responsiveness on this phone is extremely satisfying to use.

In terms of form factor, this phone is exactly the same as the Mi 5, lending itself to being an extremely light, easy to hold smart phone. However, in terms of pure aesthetics, the Mi 6 is definitely an upgrade, offering a four sided curved ceramic/glass body, with a casing that comes in black, white, or the more popular, vibrant blue.

The phone also offers a dual lens, each being 12MP, giving users more control over lighting and aperture. And the processor is a more advanced Snapdragon 835, with a storage capacity of either 64GB or 128GB with 6GB of RAM for each.

However, in terms of battery power, the Mi 6 offers the least battery power, coming in at just around 3350mAh.

Final Thoughts

Each of these phones are stellar, offering a great durability, form factor, camera quality, and processing power. If you’re someone who wants to save some money while still having a decent phone, the Redmi Note 3 is great.

However, if you’re looking for something that is a little snappier and has better camera quality, the Mi 5 and Mi 6 are definitely something you should look into.

In today’s smartphone market, you’ll pretty much always see a phone have a slightly better, more “up-tuned” counterpart. For example, most iPhones have a Pro or S version; and this trend can be seen with many of the more popular smartphones out on the market today. And the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is certainly no exception to this trend.

But just because there is a Pro version to this already amazing phone, does that mean you should drop a couple extra hundred dollars to get the slightly more improved version? Often times the Pro version is simply not needed for the things that you intend to use it for. So to be certain as to whether you should get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 or the Pro version, the following is a brief intro to what each phone has to offer.

Should You Get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 or the Pro Version?

The Form Factor

The Note 3 is a bit smaller than the Pro version, as the Note 3 comes in at dimensions of 150.00 x 76.00 x 8.65 (mm), while the Pro comes in at 151.50 x 76.20 x 8.15.

The Pro’s increase in size also makes it a little bit heavier than the Note 3, but is certainly something consumers look for if they want a sturdier feeling phone.

The Camera

The camera is probably the biggest difference between these two phones, as the Redmi Note 3 offers a 16MP rear facing camera when compared to the 13MP camera offered by the Pro version.

Though this seems like a downgrade, however, the Pro version does offer a dual lens rear facing camera, offering users a more improved low light photography experience, and the ability to better focus on one’s subject.

Display Quality

Both phones brandish IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen and 16M color display, giving both phones an identical vivid, HD screen.

In terms of pixels though, the similarity ends. The Pro version unfortunately boasts 342 PPI as opposed to the Redmi Note 3’s PPI. But the Pro version’s spectacularly vivid OLED display makes up for the small lack in pixels, offering crystal clear, vibrant colors.

Storage and Ram

The Pro version touts better RAM, offering 3GB as opposed to the Note 3’s 2 GB; the Pro version also offers up to 32GB of internal storage when compared to the Note 3’s significantly smaller, 16GB. It should be noted, however, that both phones can accommodate expanded storage up to 128GB

Processor

The Redmi Note 3 offers a 1.4GHz hexa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor; while its Pro counterpart offers an improved 2.1GHz MediaTek Helio X20. This improvement lends to the Pro version being a bit snappier and more responsive to touch.

The Verdict?

Though the Pro version offers slightly better specs in terms of processing power, memory, and display quality, the Redmi Note 3 offers great functionality for the lower price of $250 compared to the Pro’s $350.

However, if you’re someone who likes to have a bit of a bulkier phone with faster processing power, the Pro version is definitely great if you can spend an extra $100.

With the latest Iphone X being out on the market, an overwhelming number of consumers within the smartphone space are scrambling to get their hands on Apple’s newest Iphone. And with any new release, there are many who praise Apple’s new phone for its improvements, while others are scrutinizing Apple’s lack of newer innovations to truly set it apart from their competitors.

With new smartphone releases such as the Iphone X, there is also a substantial part of the consumer basis that are looking for phones that are different and unique from what most consider “the battle between iPhone and Samsung.” For this desire for something fresh and innovative, while having a price point that is competitive, comes the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 by Xiaomi Inc.

[Review] Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs iPhone X

This stellar smartphone by Xiaomi Inc. is certainly a powerhouse of a phone, offering numerous features that are comparable to what the Iphone X has to offer. The following are just a few aspects where the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 holds up against the Iphone X.

Redmi Note 3 offers comparable quality and has a much lower price point than the Apple competitor.

Camera Quality

With a 16MP camera, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 offers high quality photos with extremely quick auto focus for those instances when you’re trying to take photos of something in action. When compared to the Iphone X’s 12MP camera, the Redmi 3 is great.

The Iphone X however does offer a wider array of “in-phone” editing options, giving more of a studio look. However, if you’re simply interested in snapping crisp, vibrant photos without the need for much editing, the Redmi 3 is absolutely perfect. On top of this, there are numerous applications that you can download that give you even more editing power, meaning you don’t necessarily need an Iphone X to get high quality photos.

Video Quality

Unlike the Redmi Note 3, the Iphone X does offer 4K resolution video recording. However, both phones are able to take 1080p, full HD video which is more than enough for most consumers wanting to take crisp, fluid videos.

Casing and Screen Size

The Iphone X comes equipped with a much bigger display, coming in at 5.8 inches; the Iphone X also has no home button, allowing the display to practically take up the entire length of the phone.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 on the other hand has a smaller screen, coming in at 5.5 inches, but comes with an extremely intelligent Sunlight Display, which helps the screen stay vibrant and readable even in harsh lighting. The Redmi 3 also comes with a bezel, which is a hit or miss depending on whether you like the feel of having a “home” button on your phone.

Both phones offer impeccable resolution, though the Iphone X offers a bit more vibrance when it comes to colors and saturation.

Capacity

The Iphone X is a clear winner in terms of storage, allowing users to have either 64GB or 254GB, compared to the Redmi’s 16GB or 32GB. However, the Redmi Note 3 can have an expanded storage of up to 128GB, which is more than enough for most users. On top of this, there are numerous file organizing applications that can b downloaded to offer cloud space, and therefore even more storage for your phone.

Final Thoughts

In terms of sheer power, the Iphone X does offer a bit more in terms of storage space, screen size/resolution, and camera quality. However, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, offers comparable quality and has a much lower price point than the Apple competitor.

At the end of the day, is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 a phone you should look into? Most definitely, especially if you’re looking for a phone that offers impressive quality for a much lower price of $250, compared to the Iphone X’s price of around $900.

We love the way that the curves of this smart phone look. We also love the way that these 2.5D curves promote exceptional hand feel. If you love a clean and minimalist look, you’ll find that this smart phone has the ultra-modern aesthetic that you prefer. The phone is crafted from aluminum which is anodized and its glossy CNC finish gives it so much futuristic style.

Overall, this mobile device has a very slim look and feel. It’s so comfortable to hold and use.

This model also has all of the right technical specifications. For example, if comes with dual SIM, 13 megapixels for superior resolution and a five-and-half inch display screen. The screen of this model is touch-sensitive. It’s nice to be able to get a capacitive touchscreen (IPS LCD) for so little money!

The Redmi Note 4 is powerful, despite its budget-friendly price tag. It’s also an elegant phone which you’ll be proud to show off. Buy Redmi Note 4 at GearBest

When you choose this model, you’ll access thirty-two gigabytes of ROM and three gigabytes of RAM. This unlocked phone will be compatible with carriers of the GSM type, including T-Mobile and AT & T. However, it won’t be compatible with carriers of the CDMA type (Spring and Verizon are two examples).

These features and benefits just scratch the surface, so why not look for this smart phone online today? When you do, you’ll access high quality which is remarkably affordable.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Unlocked Cell Phone, 3GB

Another Xiaomi smartphone option under two hundred bucks is the Redmi Note 3. You’ll find an unlocked version of this smart phone at larger online retailers, for just under two hundred dollars. This smart phone is a large-screen design which is really affordable and it offers quite a few premium features for a rock-bottom price. For example, the Redmi Note 3 has bodywork made from sturdy and sleek metal, as well as a scanner for a fingerprint (this is a great security feature), a five-and-a-half inch screen and a good (and quick!) processor, which is the “octa-core” MediaTek Helio X10.

Buy Redmi Note 3 Pro for $164

Xiaomi manufactures with the needs and wants of money-conscious consumers in mind and it dominates this niche of the smart phone market within China. The Redmi Note 3’s predecessor, the Note 2, was crafted mostly from plastic. It had a much cheaper feel than the Redmi Note 3. We love the metal construction of this model. It makes it seem a lot more expensive than it is.

In terms of key advantages, this smart phone is very attractive and its construction feels nice and solid. It also has a large battery and a fingerprint scanner which works rapidly. In terms of drawbacks, its camera is good, but not great, and the display screen is of medium quality. While it isn’t the best display screen around (remember, this is a budget smart phone), the display screen is touch-sensitive.

This smart phone features three gigabytes of two-channel RAM (LPDDR3), as well as an Android operating system (Lollipop version). The Redmi Note 3 also features a pixel count of one thousand and eighty by nineteen hundred and twenty. The bigger display screen for this model measures five point five inches, so you’ll have plenty of display screen room, which will be nice while you’re texting, browsing the Web or doing other tasks on your smart phone.

Overall, this model offers quite a bit of value for a very good price. Like the Note 4, it’s quite popular with

Redmi 4X (santoni) is a perfect example of another quite popular Chinese phone under 200 bucks. You can easily get one at GearBest. Buy Redmi 4X for $139.99

Chinese consumers because it does deliver many technological benefits without being an expensive mobile device.

Which Smart Phone Is Right For You?

Both of these best Xiaomi smartphones under 200 bucks have a lot to offer. The Note 4 is newer. If you like to have newer technology, it may be the right mobile device for you. However, the Note 3 is a popular, modern-day classic and it performs very well, although it isn’t as new to market as the Redmi Note 3.

Now that we’ve shared information about two amazing (and cheap!) smartphones from Xiaomi, you’ll be able to check them both out at online suppliers. When you’re shopping around, compare features and prices and always make sure that you buy from a website with a strong and positive business reputation. Also, if you’re planning on using a Xiaomi smartphone outside of China, you should ensure that you’ll be able to use it on your current or prospective network.

We like this Chinese electronics brand and appreciate the fact that it caters to the needs of customers who want cheaper smart phones. If you want quality without the sticker shock, we think that you’ll appreciate this established brand, too. The Redmi Note 3 and Note 4 smartphones deliver most or all of the functionality that customers want and deserve. So, why not choose one of these affordable smart phones today?
