2. After disconnecting the micro-USB cable, open the Updater on your phone.
3. Trace the hamburger/three-dot menu on the top right corner of the Updater and open it.

How to flash custom ROM on Xiaomi Mi6?

Basically, you install all custom roms via TWRP Custom Recovery. Here you can find a tutorial on how to flash TWRP on Mi6 phone and here’s some additional information. Sometimes after the first TWRP Installation it’s required to make “format data” before flashing, in case TWRP sees the data partition, “format data” is not required. To “Format data” go to “Wipe” menu, in the bottom right corner you’ll see “Format Data”, tap on it and type “yes” to confirm. After formatting data partition on data from your device will be deleted. Now reboot into custom recovery and start flashing a Custom ROM on Mi 6.

1. Download firmware, Custom ROMS and Gapps.
2. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery.
3. Go to “Wipe” and select “Data, Cache, Dalvik” partitions. Swipe to confirm.
4. In TWRP Custom Recovery go to “Install”, flash firmware, then flash downloaded ROM, swipe to confirm. Wipe “Cache/Dalvik”.
5. Go back to “Install” menu and flash GAPPS (optionally). Wipe “Cache/Dalvik” after installation.
6. Now in the main TWRP Menu press “Reboot” and reboot into system.

How to install GAPPS on Xiaomi Mi6 Custom ROM?

All custom ROMs are comes without pre-installed Google Applications, so you’ll need to flash them separately. Download Gapps package from here http://opengapps.org/

1. Download required Gapps package.
2. In TWRP Custom Recovery flash the Custom ROM and without booting into system flash the .zip file with Gapps. Do not install Gapps after booting into system!
3. After you’ve installed Custom ROM and Gapps you can reboot into system.

Root Xiaomi Mi 6 without TWRP Recovery

1. First you’ll need to unlock bootloader on your Mi 6 phone.
2. Download and install ADB drivers.
3. Download official TWRP Custom Recovery for Xiaomi Mi6 (sagit). Copy downloaded TWRP to the folder with adb drivers and rename TWRP image file to “twrp.img”.
4. Download SuperSU .zip archive and copy to phone internal memory.
5. Just in case, you check bootloader lock state by following this instruction.
6. Boot your device in fastboot mode (turn off, press “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons at the same time, wait for fastboot logo to appear) and connect it to PC or laptop.
7. Now we will boot into TWRP Custom Recovery without installing it on our device. (After reboot, TWRP will be gone and replaced back with stock recovery.)
8. In the folder with ADB files and “twrp.img” press and hold “Shift” button and right mouse click on empty space, then select “Open command window here”.
9. In the command line enter “fastboot devices” to check if device is connected.
10. Next type “fastboot boot twrp.img” to boot into TWRP without installing it. (In case you would like to install TWRP Custom Recovery permanently on your device then replace “boot” to “flash recovery”).
11. If everything was done correctly, your device will reboots into TWRP Custom Recovery.
12. In the TWRP menu press “Install”.
13. Find previously copied SuperSU .zip archive.
14. Swipe to confirm installation.
15. Reboot into system.
16. That’s it! Now you’ve got root on your Mi 6 phone!

How to flash Xiaomi Mi 6 from 8.2.0.2 fake ROM to Official Global Developer

1. Download and install Mi PC Suite. Usually, it automatically installs all required drivers. Start Mi PC Suite. Update the software if required.
2. Boot into recovery mode.
3. In recovery select “MI ASSISTANT” mode connection.
4. Connect your device to PC via USB-cable.
5. Your device will not be found in Mi PC Suite. No need to click “Connect to device” button.
6. Press the arrow icon near the “Update” button and click on “R.FLASH”.
7. If everything was done correctly, you’ll be suggested to flash to Global Developer ROM.
8. Pay attention! At 80% your device will reboot and most probably you’ll see error message in Mi PC Suite. This is normal! 
9. Your device will reboot and start with installed Global Developer ROM. You can now close the Mi PC Suite and disconnect your device from PC.

If you got some application crashes, the factory reset will help you.
