In this post we will share the detailed instruction on how to unbrick the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10T / Redmi Note 10 5G / POCO M3 Pro/5G (camellian/camellia).

This will help you restore your device in case it’s not turning on or can be entered to fastboot / recovery modes. Also this guide will work with Xiaomi Redmi 6 and other similar models which are using the MT6833 chip. You can find the full supported list here.

Flashing MTK without Service Account using the SP Flash Tool

Read the guide carefully and pay attention that you’re responsible for any possible issues. This guide & method has been already tested by lots of users and it’s generally working. If you don’t follow or read the guide carefully you might stuck with different issues.

Let’s pay attention on some things before starting the guide:

Make sure you download Fastboot ROM version with “Image” folder. Sometimes people download the Recovery ROM and asking where to find the “Scatter” file.

In case you’re still using the Windows 7 OS, make sure you’ve installed all the required updates, otherwise the Python will not be installed. In case you still have some issues, download the latest update pack and make sure your system have all the latest updates.

This method won’t work on Windows XP, it’s recommended to use Windows 10.

If you’ve got a locked bootloader – you must flash only with the firmware suitable for your current region.

Windows Method and Preparation

Let’s begin with the first time setup. You can also check the following youtube tutorial to get better understanding.

How to properly prepare the MTK Bypass on Windows (YouTube tutorial)

To download required tools, go to https://megafon929.github.io/mtk and download the following archives:

https://megafon929.github.io/mtk

Unpack downloaded archives in one single folder and move all files to the “MTK_Bypass-Final\Bypass” folder.

Next you’ll need to download & install Python drivers on your PC.

Download latest Python drivers from official website: https://www.python.org/downloads/

Proceed with installation and put the checkmark near the “Add Python 3.9 to PATH”.

After the install is fully completed, open the CMD on your PC and enter the following command to download additional updates:

python -m pip install pyusb pyserial json5

Now go back to the folder with the Bypass Utility files we’ve previously downloaded.

Go to “Driver” folder and start the “Install Driver.bat” file, otherwise you can right mouse click on file “cdc-adm” and select “Install”.

Download UsbDk:

UsbDk_1.0.22_x64.msi

UsbDk_1.0.22_x86.msi

Reboot your PC.

Now we can start the flashing process itself:

Bypassing The BOOTROM

This should be done every time, before connecting the device to PC.

Open the “Bypass” folder.

Start the “brom.bat” file.

Press and hold Volume Up button (sometimes it can be Volume Down or both buttons at the same time) and connect your device to PC

Using the SP Flash Tool

Pay attention! If you select the “Format All +Download” option, you’ll lost your IMEI code and other data on your device, which you won’t be able to recover. So make sure you flash only using the “Firmware Upgrade” or “Download Only” options, otherwise you risk to lost the IMEI.

Make sure that the COM Port is the same as in the “brom.bat” logs.

Open the FlashTool folder, start the software

Press “Options” > “Options” > “Connection” and put the following settings (you can actually skip this step, it should work without this, but in case it doesn’t work for you, you can try putting these):

Connection Setting:

UART:

COM Porn – COM6

Baud rate – 921600

Timeout – 60 min

Next, select the “Scatter” file from the “images” folder and press “Download”.

The flashing process will start, wait until it is fully finished and then you can disconnect your device from PC and start it.

In case you stuck with some different errors, try checking these tips below:

If your device doesn’t turn on and doesn’t vibrate at all – try disassemble it and reconnect the battery.

In case you see the following error message in SP Flash Tool, try using the different SPFlashTool version: “The storage in your device has reached end of life, please change to use new device to do operations”.

In case of this error: “ERROR : STATUS_SEC_IMG_TYPE_MISMATCH” – try removing the checkmark near the “Cust” option.

In some cases, while flashing Xiaomi Mi Max, the “persist” partition breaks down. The persist partition is responsible for WiFi (MAC address), Bluetooth, device proximity sensors and other stuff. Sometimes if the persist partition is broken you can reinstall the firmware. That’s why you’ll need to manually restore its first, and then you will be able to flash and restore your device.

Unbrick and restore Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (nitrogen) with “persist” partition issue

You can download all the required Official MIUI ROM files, including fastboot versions for Mi Max 3 here. Now let’s get straight to the guide:

Download and unpack any preferable MIUI fastboot ROM for Mi Max 3 (you can always find the latest version on the link above).

Open extracted folder and look for “persist.img” file (it should be located in “Image” folder).

Copy “persist.img” file to “/sdcard/persist.img”.

Now there are two different methods you can try out, first one is:

You must have TWRP Custom Recovery installed on your device.

Boot into TWRP, go to “Additional” > “Terminal”.

In the terminal type the following command to convert the .img file from “sparse” to “raw” format.

simg2img /sdcard/persist.img /sdcard/persist_EXT4.img

After it’s completed, type the following command in the terminal:

dd if=/sdcard/persist_EXT4.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist

After the flashing is completed, you can reboot into the system and start using your phone.

The second method is pretty much very similar to the first one, the only difference is that we can use the command line directly on the device, without booting into the recovery. Here’s what you’ll need: root enabled, installed archive with fastboot or Unpacked Kitchen app (highly recommended). Now repeat the steps from 2 to 4 from the method above.

Keep in mind that with the latest updates regarding the anti-rollback policy, we would recommend you to take the “persist.img” file from the corresponding firmware version of the installed bootloader.

Troubles happen at the most inopportune moment and no one is insured from this. With the latest innovation made by Xiaomi and I’m talking about the introduction of the “Anti Roll Back” system, cases of bricked devices have become much more frequent. At first, this could happen only with firmware downgrade, now it’s possible to get bricked device even with firmware update.

Follow this tutorial and learn how to restore hardbrick Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Note 5 in EDL (emergency download) mode.

Restore hardbricked Redmi 6 Pro in EDL mode

Pay attention – Do not update to ARB4 via TWRP Custm Recovery. Before unlocking the bootloader, it’s highly recommended to install the official MIUI firmware via fastboot. You can check the ARB and bootloader status on your device by following the tutorial below:

How to check ARB status on Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Note 5 Global?

Reboot your device in fastboot mode.

Download and extract Platform Tools on “C:\” drive.

Go into the folder with unpacked archive, hold “Shift” key and right mouse click on an empty space. Select “Open command window here”.

Type the “fastboot devices” command in terminal and if your phone is successfully recognized, then type the next command “fastboot getvar anti” to see the ARB status.

The number “3” means that you can easily downgrade the firmware on your device, if you see the number “4”, that means that you can get a hardbrick as a result of downgrading.

Download Platform Tools: platform-tools-latest-windows.zip

Requirements:

You’ll need authorized MI account so you can flash your phone in EDL mode. To get this, you’ll most probably need to contact MIUI support a few times. To check the account permission find “account_auth.exe” in MiFlash folder and enter your account credentials.

QDLoader HS-USB Driver installed.

MiFlash Software installed, recommended version is 20180528.

Official ROM for fastboot which includes ARB4.

Hardbrick Xiaomi phone in your hands.

Now when you’ve got everything installed and got all required permissions, you can continue with unbricking tutorial:

Extract download fastboot ROM and MiFlash to the C:\ drive.

Start MiFlash tool.

Locate unpacked ROM and select “Clean All” option.

Press “refresh” to locate connected device.

Now press “flash”.

The new window will popup and you’ll need to enter your account credentials.

After successful authorization wait until the flashing process is finished completely.

In the end you’ll see a “success” message in “result” column.

Disconnect your device from PC and turn it on!

Just in case, here is the short list of possible issues:

You can only flash one single device using your Mi account.

If the flashing process doesn’t start try to reinstall drivers on your PC.

If you see “Unauthorized xiaomi account” that means that your account doesn’t have the required permissions.

I really hope that this guide will be helpful to you!

In this detailed tutorial I’m going to show you the process of restoring and unbricking Xiaomi Mi A1 using the Test Point and MiFlash tool method. Please read and follow the instruction carefully. Please, keep in mind, that you take responsibility for all your actions. So, if you’re ready to continue, let’s jump in. With the following tutorial you’ll be able to recover / flash the bricked device with the locked bootloader.

Restore hardbricked and bootloop Mi A1 with Test Point + MiFlash Method

First of all, before doing any manipulations with your device, I can recommend use to do the following steps, maybe they’ll help you.

Check if your device is recognized as “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008” in Device Manager.

Reboot your PC and reboot your smartphone.

Remove and insert phone battery, try rebooting once again.

Didn’t help? Ok, let’s try more complicated solution. We assume your Mi A1 is in bootloop and you can’t flash fresh ROM version using the fastboot mode, because the bootloader is locked, and there’s no way you can unlock it now. If your Mi A1 phone doesn’t react to any buttons and just shows black screen and any other similar situations could be possibly fixed with this guide.

Download official fastboot MIUI ROM for Mi A1, the first Android Nougat version in this case: N2G47H.7.8.23

Extract downloaded ROM (twice if needed), so you’ll see the following folder with the “Images” folder inside:

Download and install latest version of MiFlash tool: MiFlashSetup_eng.msi

Make sure you’ve all required drivers for Mi A1 installed on your PC.

Disassemble your phone and disconnect the battery connector:

Grab the USB cable and insert to phone only, do not connect to PC at this point.

Take any suitable tool, wire clip for example and use it to connect two test points on the device board. Watch this video:

Keep test points together and connect your phone to PC by inserting USB cable in to PC.

Open “Device Manager” and check if the phone is defined as COM-port, “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008” in our case.

If everything is right, then you can disconnect test-points and continue to the next step. If not, then re-check if all the drivers are installed.

Start MiFlash tool, press “select” and open the folder with ROM files.

Press “Ok”.

Find and enable “clean all” option.

Press “Refresh” button and check if your phone is defined as “COM-port” in “device” column.

Continue by press “flash” button.

Wait until installation is completed.

Please try and check this method, I hope that everything will work for you and you’ll be able to successfully restore your phone!

In this post we are going to show you a few different methods on how to unbrick and restore Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus (or how to restore “persist” partition).

The second part of this article will be generally about Redmi 5 Plus bootloop issue and how to fix it.

Tutorial on how to fix bootloop and restore hardbricked Redmi 5 Plus

Please pay attention that you do everything at your own risk and you’re responsible for any possible issues with your device.

Read the following information if you own Chinese version of Redmi 5 Plus: You can not flash Global MIUI ROM with locked bootloader, in this case you’ll get a bootloop device. Here’s what you should do: install Official Chinese MIUI ROM, sync with your Mi account (fix the 10008 error with DNS or VPN) and then request the bootloader unlock permission from MIUI.

Test point method is used in the following cases:

Your phone is a brick. It can’t be turned on, fastboot and recovery modes are not working.

In case of bootloop, when your phone automatically reboots on each startup and bootloader is locked.

If you want to flash official ROM, but bootloader is locked.

For China Redmi 5 Plus version:

You can use the following tutorial to fix the following issues:

If in the “Developer options” menu you see that the bootloader is unlocked, while if you check via terminal “cmd” command it is showing “(false)” meaning the the bootloader is locked.

If you want to unlock the bootloader, but when you trying to sync device with Mi-account you’re getting 86006 error.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus Disassembly Part

The whole process requires accuracy and patience! Please read carefully and watch videos on YouTube to have a better understanding of the disassembly process.

Turn off your smartphone. In case you have bootloop issue, then press all the three buttons at the same time (both volume buttons and “Power”), hold them your device will reboots automatically for a few times and then it will turn off, release the buttons.

Next we are going to take out the SIM tray.

First, flip the bottom of the lid by carefully pulling it up near USB connector.

Next snap off the back cover.

Watch the following video for more information:

Required Drivers and Software for Redmi 5 Plus

Here’s the list of drivers and tools you must have installed on your PC to proceed with unbricking your Xiaomi Redmi 5 device:

First of all you’ll need to disable driver signature enforcement on your Windows PC.

Then you’ll need to install Qualcomm drivers: QDLoader+HS-USB+Driver_32-64bit_Setup.7z

Install the MiFlash tool, in case of any errors try the following version: MiFlashSetup-Beta.msi

Download the official MIUI ROM for MiFlash/fastboot, you can download and flash both Stable or Developer version. Unpack downloaded ROM to “C:/” drive.

Start MiFlash as administrator, click on the upper left “select” button and locate the path to unpacked firmware folder. Then select and enable “clean all” option in the bottom of the screen.

How to boot Redmi 5 Plus into EDL mode

We’ll try to give a step-by-step text guidance, but I will highly recommend you to check additional videos on how to get to the test points.

Remove the battery cable and gently pull it to the side.

Insert USB cable in the device, but do not connect other side to PC yet.

Grab some tool and close the Test Point contacts together.

While keeping the Test Points contacts together connect your device to PC via USB.

If everything was done correctly Redmi 5 Plus will reboot in the so-called EDL Mode and the screen will be off (black).

On your Windows PC open the “Device Manager” and check for the connected device and it’s COM or LPT port. You should see “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COMxx)” device, where “xx” is the number of the port you’re using.

As soon as your device COM port is appeared in the device manager you can remove your hand from the Test Point contacts.

Flashing Redmi 5 Plus with MiFlash tool

Now you can continue with the flashing process, it wouldn’t be complicated really:

Open MiFlash software.

Click on the “Refresh” button.

If everything was done correctly, you should see COM port appeared in the “device” column.

Press “Flash” to start flashing process. You should see the progress bar appeared.

If the flashing was completed successfully you’ll see a green “Success” message.

Now we can check and test the smartphone. Remove the USB cable and connect the battery cable back.

Turn on your device.

Carefully put the back cover neatly to its place.

Insert SIM tray back as well.

That’s it!

Restore persist partition and unbrick Redmi 5 Plus

This method will only work only if your device automatically reboots on Mi logo and you can’t use Test Points method for some reasons. This could happen because of the corrupted (deleted or formatted) persist partition file. To restore it you’ll need to edit two files from the unpacked Fastboot ROM: partition.xml and rawprogram0.xml. We will recommend you to download Notepad++ to edit the files above.

Pay attention:

If the bootloader is locked, you can only use the China Stable fastboot ROM

If the bootloader is unlocked, you can use both Global or China Stable fastboot ROM.

Unpack downloaded ROM and find these files, locate “images” folder and find these two files: partition.xml and rawprogram0.xml

Open “partition.xml” find the following line:

<partition label="persist" size_in_kb="32768" type="6C95E238-E343-4BA8-B489-
8681ED22AD0B" bootable="false" readonly="false"
filename="persist.img" sparse="true"/>

and change readonly=”false” to “true”, in the result you’ll get

<partition label="persist" size_in_kb="32768" type="6C95E238-E343-4BA8-B489-
8681ED22AD0B" bootable="false" readonly="true"
filename="persist.img" sparse="true"/>

Open “rawprogram0.xml” and make the following changes:

<program SECTOR_SIZE_IN_BYTES="512" file_sector_offset="0" filename=""
label="persist" num_partition_sectors="65536" physical_partition_number="0"
size_in_KB="32768.0" sparse="true" start_byte_hex="0xf4000000"
start_sector="7995392"/>

to

<program SECTOR_SIZE_IN_BYTES="512" file_sector_offset="0" filename="persist.img"
label="persist" num_partition_sectors="65536" physical_partition_number="0"
size_in_KB="32768.0" sparse="true" start_byte_hex="0xf4000000"
start_sector="7995392"/>

Save changes.

Now you can use the flashing process which is described above.

You may also use the MiFlashPro tool for flashing, which can be downloaded here.

How to fix bootloop Redmi 5 Plus smartphone

Here’s the very simple solution on how to fix the bootloop issue when your phone automatically reboots without starting into the system.

Use all three available buttons to turn off your device completely. Press and hold “Volume Up” + “Down” and “Power” buttons and wait until your device reboots and then turned off.

Connect the test points and insert USB cable, you device should appear in device manager as “Qualcomm HS – USB QDLoader 9008” (please check the tutorial above on how to use Test Points and boot Redmi 5 Plus into Download mode).

Start MiFlash tool, locate the path to previously downloaded ROM and press “Refresh”. For China version use only China Stable or Developer Fastboot ROM, flashing Global ROM will lead to bootloop once again.

Your device should be identified as listed with its COM3 port, enable “clean all” and press “Flash” button to start flashing.

Wait until flashing process is completed.

Press “Power” button to start your phone. If the phone doesn’t start use the both volume and “Power” buttons at the same time and wait for 20 seconds. Your phone should start using this method.

If your phone is identified as “Unknown device” in “Device Manager” and constantly disconnects, that means that it just needs to be turned on. Disconnect USB cable from PC, press and hold all three buttons on your device and wait 20 seconds until it turns on.

Restore and fix hardbricked Meizu Pro 6

What’s required?

MRT Dongle

MRT Dongle software: mrt_1.98_fix.7z

Special firmware version: Meizu_Pro_6_MRT_Firmware.7z

Driver Auto Installer v1.352.00: Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.352.00.7z

Now after you’ve prepared everything what is required, we will continue with the following steps. Some users reporting that this method isn’t working on Windows 10 x64, in this case try to use Windows 7 version.

Disable drivers signature enforcement on your PC.

Download and install drivers using Driver Auto Installer.

Connect MRT Dongle to PC via USB 2.0. Most probably, it won’t work on USB 3.0.

Download mrt_1.98_fix.7z and open MRT_1.98.exe.

Click on “Meizu” tab in the top right corner and select your device model, “PRO 6” in this case.

You’ll see the following message: “Connect to Service Success”.

Select “Write Flash” in “Operation Options”, press “Open” and locate previously downloaded ROM. That’s “MT6797_Android_scatter.txt” file in “Meizu_Pro_6_MRT_Firmware” folder.

Now we press “Start” button. You should see “Searching Mobile Port…” message.

At this point you need to turn off your device, then press and hold “Volume Down” button and connect your phone to PC via USB cable at the same point, release the “Volume Down” button as soon as flashing process start. If the following method doesn’t work for you, you may try to boot into fastboot mode firstly by pressing “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons at the same time. Hold these two buttons for 8 seconds, and release them after your device boot into fastboot, then press “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons, release the “Power” button when the screen turns off and keep holding “Volume Down”. Flashing process should start.

Here’s another method, which doesn’t require you to use the MRT Dongle.

Hello, guys! In this tutorial we will show you how to restore firmware on bricked or bootloop Xiaomi Redmi 5A (Riva) device. Please pay attention, that if you have Chinese version of Redmi 5A with locked bootloader and Global ROM (*Vietnamese) firmware, you should not update your device, otherwise you’ll get hardbrick in your hands.

Unbrick Redmi 5A with locked bootloader and stock recovery

First of all, you should know which version of Redmi 5A smartphone you have. There are two different versions in the market right now: Global & China.

Download MIUI ROM for Redmi 5A.

Download and install MiPhoneManager: MiInst.exe

Allow MiPhoneManager to install all required drivers on your PC.

Turn off your phone, then press “Volume Up” and “Power” button, release the “Power” button after short vibration signal and keep holding “Volume Up” button, wait until your device starts in MiRecovery. As soon as you see the recovery screen release the “Volume Up”. At this point you should see three buttons. Use volume buttons to navigate in recovery menu and select “Connect with MiAssistant”. Press “Power” to confirm.

Your device will enter MiPCSuite.

Now connect your Redmi 5A device to PC via USB cable.

In “Device manager” you should see “ADB interface”, on the phone screen you’ll see inserted USB cable.

In MiPhoneManager the new window with 3 or 4 buttons should appear. If you see 3 buttons window, then you’ll need to download the MIUI ROM manually (recommended version will be displayed). If you see 4 buttons window, then you can press the first button and ROM will be downloaded and installed automatically.

In case you see a window with 3 buttons only, then press the first button and locate previously downloaded ROM.

If you’ve selected the right ROM version for Redmi 5A, then you’ll see green hieroglyphs. Press the first button once again.

The installation process will start and progress bar will be displayed on your phone screen.

After installation is completed your device will automatically reboot.

I hope that MiPhoneManager steps are clear, but if anyone can provide us with screenshots for this tutorial that would be great. You can contact us by e-mail or use the comments section below.

How to identify version of Redmi 5A – China or Global?

As we previously noticed there are two different versions of Redmi 5A:

Global version: 2 SIM card slots and MicroSD. Comes with multilingual ROM installed.

China version: 1 slot for SIM+MicroSD or SIM+SIM. Comes with China ROM installed which includes Chinese and English languages.

How to flash multilingual MIUI ROM on Chinese Redmi 5A?

Locked bootloader: Basically, there’s no way to install multilingual firmware on locked bootloader. Since Global ROM for MiFlash (fastboot) won’t work for Chinese version of Redmi 5A (leads to bootloop). While Global ROM for stock recovery simply can not be installed.

Unlocked bootloader: So, there’re two ways. You can flash TWRP Custom Recovery and then install any multilingual ROM version for Redmi 5A, xiaomi.eu for example. The second way is to flash Global ROM (fastboot) via MiFlash tool without locking the bootloader (Pay attention, do not use “clean all and lock” mode).

Here’s a method on how you can try to restore your hardbricked Xiaomi Mi Max Prime smartphone. So, if something went wrong while you were flashing or updating your device and now your phone can’t be turned on, recovery and fastboot mode is not working, button combinations also not working, then you might want to try the solution below.

Restore hardbrick Xiaomi Mi Max Prime / Unbricking Guide

First thing you’ll need to do is to disable driver signature enforcement.

Open Command Prompt as administrator and run the commands below:

bcdedit.exe /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING ON
Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON

Now reboot your PC.

To return settings back to normal run these commands:

Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks OFF
bcdedit.exe /set TESTSIGNING OFF
bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

You can find more methods here.

Now install “MiFlash Tool” and “MiPhone”.

Connect your device to PC via USB-cable (it’s recommended to use the stock cable from the original box), then press all three buttons: “Volume Up”, “Volume Down” and “Power” buttons. Wait for vibration signal (might take a while), now your device should be identified as “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E” or “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9008”, but MiFlash tool still wouldn’t be working at this point.

If your phone is still not recognizable, try reinstalling drivers on your PC.

Now release the “Power” button and keep holding “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” for around 60 seconds more. Your device should vibrate once again and boot into EDL mode (in device manager it will still be recognized as “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9008”).

Now you should be able to flash your device using the MiFlash Tool.

Download and flash China 7.3.15 MIUI ROM for fastboot. (other versions most probably won’t work). Select “Clean ALL” option.

Remove USB cable and disconnect your phone from PC.

Turn on your Mi Max Prime. First boot may require you to press and hold “Power” button for 10 seconds at least.

Next, if you want to flash Global ROM instead of China 7.3.15, then turn on developer options and enable “OEM Unlock” and “USB debugging”.

Now download latest Global ROM (by the moment it was Mi Max Prime Global V8.0.3.0.MBDMIDG (MIUI8)) and repeat the same steps, the same way we’ve flashed China ROM previously.
