Let’s continue the series of Xiaomi Mi4S tutorials. Below you’ll find out how to flash or update TWRP Custom Recovery on this awesome Android smartphone. You must have unlocked bootloader. There’s two ways on how to unlock Mi4S: the first one is request official unlock permission from MIUI website, other way is unofficial unlock by using unlock patch. Find more information here.
Install or update TWRP Recovery on Xiaomi Mi4S
If you don’t have custom recovery installed already, then use fastboot commands:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_file_name.img fastboot boot recovery_file_name.img
If everything was done correctly, your device will automatically reboots into TWRP recovery mode.
If you’ve already installed TWRP Custom Recovery on your device and you want to update it, then boot in TWRP recovery and install .zip or .img file with newest version. To install .img file, you need to go to “Install” menu, select “Install img”, select TWRP .img file, select “recovery” and install.
