Here’s a general and most complete guide on how to flash your Redmi Note 9S device using any custom recovery software.

In this exact post we are going to use Orange Fox Recovery as it seems to be the most suitable one. Also because the Fox Recovery tool works pretty much on every Curtana and Miatol devices.

Flashing Redmi Note 9S using any recovery: TWRP, Orange Fox, PBRP & TRB

So, to begin with, we will need the unlocked bootloader, custom TWRP installed with any working firmware on your device. It’s highly recommended to have an SD card, so we can flash from it, and not from internal memory.

Before starting the flashing process: download all required files firstly. Most important, you’ll need to download a firmware you want to flash. If it’s a ported ROM, make sure it has all required files like “vendor” & “firmware”. Also pay attention when downloading these ROMs, they must be suitable for Curtana device.

If Android versions differ from the currently installed firmware with the one you want to install, then firstly install the firmware which is suitable for this version. It’s recommended to flash the latest versions of firmware. Once you got this done, follow these steps:

Boot into recovery and format every partition except SD card and OTG.

Format “data” partition by typing “yes”, after this step it’s important to reboot into recovery once again.

Find the previously downloaded ROM on your SD card and start the flashing process.

If there was “vendor”, then flash in after the main ROM.

Setup DM-verity & Permissiver.

If there was no error during the installation process, then you can now reboot into the system. If there was any error, repeat the steps once again.

Some ROM versions might show an error that system isn’t installed, simply ignore these type of errors and reboot.

If you got error while flashing any custom rom version, then try flash local ROM firstly and then repeat the same steps above.

You might also notice that the first startup might take longer than usual, it’s ok. Just wait on the loading screen. If your device stuck in the bootloop, then try holding “Volume Up” and “Power” button to start the recovery mode and try those steps:

Format “data” partition once again

Flash “Magisk.zip”.

Usually we install magisk, new kernel and GAPPS after the first system startup setup.

How to Root Redmi Note 9S without TWRP

We decided to also include here a small and very quick tutorial on how you can enable root on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S (Curtana) without flashing a custom recovery. You still must have unlocked bootloader firstly.

Take the boot.img file from the firmware that you want to flash and patch it with magisk.

Reboot your smartphone.

Find the patched image in the “download” folder, change the name to “boot” and copy to your PC.

Install adb drivers.

On Your PC, on C:\ drive the “adb” folder will be created.

Move the patched boot file there.

Start your phone in fastboot mode, hold “shift” button and right mouse click, open the adb in command line and enter the following command “fastboot flash boot boot.img.”

Don’t forget to share your experience and recommendations in the comment section below.

Hi guys! This post will give you step-by-step instructions on how to flash new firmware on your Xiaomi POCO F3 / Redmi K40 device using TWRP Custom Recovery.

If case you guys interested we might post boot unlock instructions, guide on how to flash your device or how to install the TWRP in the first place. Let us know in the comments, if any of the suggested topics caught your interest and will be useful here at XiaomiFirmware.

Installing ROMS on Xiaomi POCO F3 With TWRP

For example, we’ll use the latest firmware from Xiaomi.eu and MIUIMIX. In case you’ve already done any of the steps below, just skip them and proceed where you stopped previously.

Note! You must disable Magisk features if you have these enabled before flashing / updating, otherwise you can get a bootloop.

Unlock the booloader on your device. Check our blog, in case you need additional instructions on that topic.

Flash the following ROM version via fastboot: xiaomi.eu 21.4.28

Download xiaomi.eu 21.4.28: Android Filehost | Sourceforge

Pay attention that all data will be wiped during installation.

Unpack downloaded archive to an empty folder.

Start your device in fastboot mode.

Start the windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat

In case you want to proceed with update, use the windows_fastboot_update_rom.bat (personal data won’t be removed in this case).

Boot into the system with newly installed ROM and setup the password.

Now download and copy TWRP, Magisk 23 (optionally) and latest version of Xiaomi.EU 21.5.20 ROM (or MIUIMIX – sourceforce / android file host, upon your choice).

Boot into fastboot mode once again and flash temp TWRP.

Boot into temporary TWRP Custom Recovery and flash TWRP permanently into Recovery Ramdisk.

Reboot into newly installed TWRP from the active TWRP to make sure that everything is flashed correctly. Now flash previously copied xiaomi.eu 21.5.20 for TWRP without any wipes right on 21.4.28. version.

To enable root on your device you need to flash previously downloaded Magisk.apk and then install this app as usual from the system (it’s required after flashing it’s firstly to create a required files, before installing an app).

In case you want to flash miuimix, then just install it instead of xiaomi.eu 21.5.20 and additionally, after flashing, you’ll need to repeat the step 6 and flash TWRP into Recovery Ramdisk once again. Same thing for Magisk.

We wish you good luck with the guide above. If you’ve successfully followed this guide, then next update will be much faster and easier.

Today we are going to share the working method on how to install TWRP 3.4.2b & Magisk (to enable root) on Xiaomi POCO F2 Pro device with MIUI 12 Global Stable firmware installed.

We hope this quick & easy tutorial will be useful and it will help you to avoid the bootloop & fastboot loading issues. Don’t forget to make all required backups on your phone before doing any actions!

Install TWRP Custom Recovery & Root POCO F2 Pro / Redmi K30 Pro

First of all and most important step here is to enable text password lock on your phone and enable USB debugging.

Download the misc.bin file & TWRP 3.4.2b version for Poco F2 Pro and move both files to same folder with platform-tools.

Rename downloaded TWRP .img file to just twrp.img to make things easier in the next steps.

Start your smartphone in fastboot mode and open command prompt on your Windows OS PC.

Now enter the following commands in the same order:

fastboot devices (to check if your device is successfully connected to your PC).

fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

fastboot flash misc misc.bin

fastboot boot twrp.img

Your phone should now reboot into TWRP and will request the text lock password, enter the password that you’ve setup previously and now /data partition should be decrypted and we can continue using the TWRP Custom Recovery.

Go to Reboot > System and proceed with reboot to the system.

It could be that TWRP will be removed on the first boot into the system. In this case, you just need to flash it again, but this time don’t use the following command: “fastboot boot twrp.img” and manually reboot into TWRP by pressing Volume Up + Power buttons at the same time.

Now, the final step is installing the Magisk.

Copy the Magisk.zip file into the phone internal memory, boot into TWRP and flash Magisk.

After installation reboot into system.

You’ve Magisk installed and working.

In this article we’re describe the step-by-step method on how you can easily flash TWRP Custom Recovery, then install Magisk to enable Root and finally how to decrypt the data partition on your Redmi 7A smartphone. To continue with this guide you will first need to unlock the bootloader on your device.

If you still don’t have an unlocked bootloader or don’t know how to do it, you can find guides on our website or on any other resource, it’s actually a very easy process, which could just take some time in some cases.

So, after you’ve the unlocked bootloader and ready to continue, please follow the instructions carefully and take a note that you take all the responsibility for your actions with your device.

Another thing here to take care of is your personal data, because during the installation your phone memory will be formatted, so make sure you do all the required backups and save them to your PC or flash drive before continuing further.

Install TWRP, Root and Decrypt Data Partition on Redmi 7A

Required files:

In this post we’ll give the tutorials on how you can firstly install TWRP Custom Recovery on your Redmi Note 8 and then we will learn how to flash Official or Custom firmware using TWRP. There’s nothing really hard, but we still would like to remind you, that you take all the responsibility for any possible issues after doing manipulations with your device.

Another thing you should keep in mind, that you can only install TWRP, if you have already unlocked the bootloader on your phone. If not, browse our website for detailed instructions on how to proceed with unlocking.

Install TWRP Custom Recovery on Redmi Note 8

First of all, you must have installed Platform-tools on your Windows PC.

Download vbmeta.img

Download required TWRP Custom Recovery for Redmi Note 8. You can find different versions here.

Copy downloaded files to the folder with ADB Platform-tools.

Open command prompt on your PC.

Enter the following commands:

fastboot devices – to check if your device is connected correctly.

fastboot –disable-verity –disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img – to flash vbmeta patch.

fastboot erase recovery

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

this will flash the Custom Recovery, where “recovery.img” is the name of downloaded recovery image file.

If you currently have stock recovery, then you must reboot into recovery at this step, by pressing “Power” and “Volume Up” buttons. If you reboot into system right now, before booting into TWRP firstly, the custom recovery will be removed automatically. If this happened, you should just repeat the same steps above once again.

How to flash official & custom ROMs on Redmi Note 8 using TWRP Recovery

Here’s the very simple step-by-step tutorial on how to install official MIUI and custom firmware, including localized ROMs, on Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 device using previously installed TWRP Custom Recovery. Before flashing any ROM it’s highly recommended to backup your device data, so that you can easily restore in case of failure or any issue.

Download the ROM you want to flash in .zip format and move to phone SD card.

Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery.

Format data.

Go back to main menu, and reboot to TWRP.

Wipe: Dalvik/ART Cache, Cache, System, Vendor and internal memory (optionally).

Now go to “Install” menu and flash the downloaded ROM.

Wipe Dalvik cache.

Reboot into system.

To update ROM version via TWRP:

Reboot into TWRP.

Wipe: Dalvik/ART Cache, Cache, System, Vendor.

Install downloaded archive with ROM.

Reboot into system.

Recently we’ve posted a full list with latest Official and Localized MIUI ROMs for Xiaomi Mi 10 and also shared the tutorial on how to flash different firmware versions. These ROMs required you to have TWRP Custom Recovery installed on your device, so we decided to put a separate tutorial on how you can easily install TWRP on your Mi10 device.

NB! This guide requires you to have unlocked bootloader!

Tutorial on how to install TWRP on Xiaomi Mi10

We will install TWRP via Fastboot. So you’ll need Platform-tools (adb/fastboot) drivers on your device. Download tools_r30.0.0-windows.zip and unpack to “C:\adb”.

Download TWRP for Xiaomi Mi 10 and unpack downloaded archive to the same folder with adb files: TWRP_umi.img from Android Filehost

Boot your phone in fastboot mode.

Turn off your device.

Press “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons.

After short vibration signal, release the power button and wait until fastboot logo appears on the screen.

Connect your device to PC via USB cable.

In the folder with ADB files, open flash_twrp.bat file.

Boot your phone in TWRP:

Press “Power” and “Volume UP” buttons.

After vibration, release the “Power” button and wait until TWRP stars.

Allow system partition modifications if it’s being asked.

In TWRP, select “Wipe” > “Format Data”, type “yes” to confirm.

Back to main menu and then go to “Reboot” > “Recovery”.

In case your device is stuck on MI logo during the startup:

Press and hold Power and Volume Up buttons.

After the vibration signal wait until TWRP Recovery starts.

Copy downloaded TWRP.img and Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_01.19.2020.zip to phone internal memory and disconnect your device from PC.

In TWRP: Install > Install Image and locate TWRP.img file you’ve copied previously > select “Recovery” partition and continue.

Reboot > Recovery.

Again go to “Install” > and select Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_01.19.2020.zip > continue with installation.

Reboot > System.

You should now have TWRP Custom Recovery installed.

How to update TWRP Custom Recovery version?

If you want to update TWRP version via fastboot, that’s pretty much as the installation process, just repeat the same steps, instead of using the newly downloaded TWRP.

To update via currently installed TWRP:

Connect your device to PC via USB cable.

Copy new TWRP image to phone memory.

Disconnect from PC or download TWRP from your smartphone instead.

Boot into TWRP.

Install > Install Image > locate downloaded TWRP > select “Recovery” partition.

Wait until installation process is finished.

Go back to TWRP main menu.

“Reboot” and then select “Recovery”.

The Redmi 8 is considered one of the best mid-range smartphones this year. It was released in October 2019, and it thus remains a top-pick for 2020 too.

It features a 6.22-inch display with a 720 x 1520 pixels resolution of about 270 ppi in pixel density.

Originally, the phone runs on Android 9 (Pie) with a MIUI 11 skin.

A Snapdragon 439 chipset backed by an Octa-core, Cortex A53 CPU with an Adreno 505 GPU completes the phone’s processing arsenal.

Photo lovers will love the Redmi 8’s 12-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

Combine these with a 3/4 GB RAM and 32/64 GB internal memory combo that comes with microSDXC expandable storage and you will notice that the Redmi 8 is a device worth coveting for.

OrangeFox Recovery Features

Yet, using a phone Redmi 8’s chops does not feel complete without a decent custom recovery. Of course, we have the official, vanilla TWRP recovery for the Redmi 8.

But, other offerings like the OrangeFox Recovery Project present us with so much more features.

See, OrangeFox has extras such as:

Out-of-the-box support for both Treble and non-Treble firmware

Use of the latest TWRP builds

Built-in Magisk

Built in SuperSu

OTA MIUI support

Lock screen alternatives

Install TWRP Recovery on Xiaomi Redmi 8

Now, before you flash OrangeFox Recovery you will need to install TWRP first, as follows:

Download TWRP:

twrp-3.3.1-1-olive.img

twrp-3.3.1-0-olive.img

Connect your Redmi 8 to a PC using USB

Open a PowerShell console on the same path as the TWRP file you have downloaded in Step 1

Type the command:

adb reboot bootloader

After Step 4 the device will go into fastboot mode. And once that is done, type the command:

fastboot flash recovery [twrp-filename]

Replace,
twrp-filename
with the name of the TWRP file you have downloaded, say:
twrp-3.3.1-1-olive.img

Restart the phone after the TWRP file flashes by typing the following command while pressing the Volume Up button

fastboot reboot

As expected, these steps will not work if you have not unlocked the phone’s bootloader.

With the TWRP installed the phone is ready for flashing the OrangeFox Recovery, as follows:

Install OrangeFox Recovery on Xiaomi Redmi 8

Download OrangeFox Recovery:

OrangeFox-R10.1_2-Stable-olive.zip

Extract the zip file to find the file named
recovery.img

Reboot the phone into fastboot mode

Go to the folder where you have installed
adb
, open a PowerShell console and type:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Then type:

reboot to recovery

With that done, you get a fresh OrangeFox Recovery installation on the Redmi 8.

Conclusion

As with other flash operations, remember to make backups before you start. And the process should be carried out on a phone with at least 80% of battery charge. Other conditions include enabling USB Debugging mode and having an unlocked bootloader.

TWRP – Team’s Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery created with ease of use and customization in mind. We have implemented an entirely touch-driven UI (you do not need to use the volume up/down and the power buttons). The best thing is that our user interface is theme-able. So, you can adjust the look and feel to your likings.

Download and Install TWRP for Xiaomi Mi A2

What’s New in TWRP 3.2.3-0

Here are the features that are exclusive for the latest TWRP 3.2.3-0 for Xiaomi A2.

Added support for both md5sum and md5 file extensions when doing MD5 checks for zip files.

Fixed the automatic installing of OTA zips on encrypted devices.

Added tweaks for handling time and date on Qualcomm devices.

Added updates to some language translations.

SuperSu is now removed from TWRP.

UI Fixes.

How To Install TWRP on Xiaomi Mi A2

Before jumping to the installation process keep in mind that if you install TWRP on your device, it will void your warranty. Other than that, in order for this procedure to work your device must be rooted. You are performing the process on your own risk of bricking or damaging your device. We are not responsible for any unwanted scenario.

For anyone who wants to install TWRP on their Xiaomi A2, here are the steps:

First, navigate to settings on your Xiaomi device and activate the developer mode. (Go to Settings and tap on About phone. Now tap 7 times on MIUI Version).

Now, enable USB debugging. (Go to Settings and tap on Developer options. Scroll down and activate the toggle USB debugging).

Enable OEM unlocking. (While in Developer options, scroll down and activate the toggle OEM unlocking).

Press the Volume and Power buttons at the same time until your device enters in Fastboot mode.

Once it is in Fastboot mode, connect it to your PC via USB cable.

Download the latest TWRP built (3.2.3-0) from the following link . Then rename the file you just downloaded to twrp.img and continue on the next step.

Download ADB and Fastboot if you haven’t installed already. (You can get the minimal setup package from the following link ).

Run the setup to install ADB and Fastboot.

Navigate to the folder where you installed ADB and Fastboot. (Mine is C:\adb).

Make sure you put the twrp .img file (the one you have downloaded and renamed before) in the same folder.

Hold down the Shift key and right-click on a blank empty space in the adb folder.

Select Open PowerShell window here (or Command Window) from the menu.

Once you see the CMD console on your screen, you can continue with the following step.

Flash the TWRP 3.2.3-0 file using the following command.

fastboot flash boot twrp.img (This will flash the file in the currently active slot A unless you have changed it before. You do not need to flash it in both slots.).

Reboot your device using the following command. But before you press Enter (to reboot the device) hold volume up button to boot in recovery mode.

fastboot reboot

Once the device boots up in TWRP it will ask you for decrypt code. Choose cancel on the prompt.

On the next screen choose Keep Read Only and you are in TWRP recovery.

Now, go to reboot and select slot B. Then go back to reboot and choose Reboot to recovery.
“this will boot to stock recovery it shows dead reboot with no command”

Hold Power and Volume Up buttons for almost 10 seconds. Do not hold long enough to reboot the phone. You may try more than once until it shows recovery options.

Once you see the recovery options on the screen, select wipe data factory reset and choose Yes.

After wiping choose reboot to bootloader.

Run again Command Prompt in the adb folder (as you did in the step 7) and type the following commands:

fastboot set_active a
fastboot reboot

Now your device will reboot but it is encrypted. After this DO NOT wipe data or factory reset in TWRP because it will result in boot loop.

On your Android device, download ES file manager or Root Browser, launch it and navitage to vendor > etc > fstab.qcom. Copy fstab.qcom in some folder on your device as a backup.

Once you have it saved in a different folder, open the original file (the one located in vendor>etc) and edit the line number 10. Change forceencrypted=footer to encryptable=footer save the file.

Reboot your device and once it boots up, reboot it into recovery.

Now, Install Magisk 17.1.zip. (You can download the latest stable version 17.1 from the following link ).

Then, go to wipe and do a factory reset (swipe the factory reset slider).

Note: If your device gets stuck at boot-logo or you are experiencing touch issues, restore the Stock Boot.img. You can do that by using the following fastboot command.

fastboot flash boot boot.img

If you do not have a boot.img of your Xiaomi Mi A2, you can get the latest ones from the following link .
