This feature was missing in 9.1.1.0 ROM version and I’m very happy that it’s back it the 9.2.3.0. As for battery life I didn’t yet noticed is it better than it was on the previous version. The 9.2.3.0 MIUI ROM also includes few new applications. These are “Mi Video” and “Mi Mover” applications. The “Mi Video”, as one can understand from the title, is an video viewing application and “Mi Mover” is a very convenient backup tool.

There are a lot of bug-fixes and performance optimization, especially regarding MIUI themes. You can check the full list of changes in the official change-log.

In some cases, it’s required to format Data (happens if your device gets encrypted), so it’s recommended to backup personal data (photography, music and contacts) to external SD card.

Disable encryption from recovery on Redmi 4X (Santoni)

The solution is to boot into fastboot mode and wipe the partition which mounts to /userdata. To be clear, fastboot will create the partition again, without any encryption.

Decrypted partition will look like this: /dev/block/mmcblk0p24

While encrypted partition will have similar look: /dev/block/dm-0

TWRP Custom Recovery probably won’t help. So, to remove the encryption, boot into fastboot mode and use the following command:

fastboot format userdata

This will result in the removal of all personal data, there’s no way to avoid this.

Can’t charge Xiaomi Redmi 4X to 100% – How to fix it?

Here’s a steps you can try to follow:

1. Firstly, drain the battery to 0% by playing games or watching youtube for example.
2. Connect battery charger to turned off phone and wait until it’s charged to 100%. Otherwise you may try using a Quick Charge option.

If this method doesn’t help, try the following steps:

• Drain the battery to 0%.
• Boot your phone in Recovery mode and try to charge to 100%.
• Try charging turned off device.
• Try switching to other ROM version (Global is recommended).
• The issue can pass with time.

Some users have found a solution by switching to multilingual MIUI ROM version (xiaomi.eu, miuiPRO etc.), charging in recovery (or TWRP Custom Recovery mode) and simply by waiting.

Short tutorial on how to activate 4G Network on Redmi 4X (santoni)

1. Turn off network access.
2. Open “Call” app and enter *#*#4636#*#*
3. Select the preferable network type: LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL) (td-scdma is a China 3G).
4. Use “Back” button on your phone to return back to main screen.
5. Reboot your phone.
6. If 4G/4G+ is now working, finish at this step. In case 4G network is still not working continue to the next step.
7. Go to “Setting” > “Wireless networks” > “Additional” > “Mobile networks”. Now change the network to 3G and then back to 4G. This should help.

How to fix data encryption issues on Redmi 4X?

Continue reading in case you’ve custom recovery installed already or you’re planning to install it in the future and want to avoid all possible mistakes. The thing is that you need to install boot patch after Global ROM update/installation, otherwise your phone will stuck on Mi logo. If you already installed Global ROM without patch and now stuck with data partition encryption issues, here’s what you may want to try. Below we’ll cover two different solutions.

Both solutions requires you to do factory reset, this means that all data will be deleted. So don’t forget to make required backups.

First method: Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery > Install boot patch and wipe Data partition. The patch is in-built in TWRP Custom Recovery, it is the same file which is required to unlock bootloader (disable DM Verify and encryption). Read more about boot patching in TWRP tutorials.

The second method requires you to reinstall ROM using the MiFlash and selecting “Clean All” option, which result to data partition wipe.

Why I don’t receive OTA updates on Redmi 4X?

In case you don’t get OTA update, most probably the ROM has been returned or still in “Beta”. You can manually download required update and flash it via Updater application or using any other flashing tutorial.

1. Download SuperSU 2.65.
2. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery.

How to backup IMEI and NVRAM on Redmi 4X (santoni)

1. Let’s start by connecting our Redmi 4X device to PC via USB cable.
2. Open “Phone” application, call *#*#13491#*#*, tap on “DIAG,SERIAL_SMD,RMNET_BAM,ADB” press “OK”.
   • Make sure all drivers are installed correctly and your device is recognized as “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9091” in device manager.
3. Download and install QPST tool. Start it by opening the “QFIL.exe” file.
4. Make sure your connected device is found as “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9091” in QPST.
5. In the top menu, press “Tools” and select “QCN Backup Restore”.
6. Now in the opened window press “Backup QCN” to make EFS backup. In case you’ve got dual sim device, then enable “Enable Multi-SIM” option. To restore backed up .qcn file, repeat the same steps and use the “Restore QCN” button.

Solution for not working proximity, gyroscope and sensor on Mi Phones

How to fix sensors issues on Redmi 4X

After you’ve fixed the sensors and gyro isses, you can install recovery once again and then flash any ROM version for everyday use which you prefer the most.

Unlocked bootloader method:

• Download Platform-tools (adb/fastboot): tools_26.0.0-windows.zip
• Download MiFlash Tool

Now let’s get started with the method:

1. Download MIUI ROM for MiFlash tool and go to “images” folder, find “persist.img” file and copy to the folder with fastboot files.
2. Turn off your device and boot into fastboot mode by pressing “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons at the same time, then connect your phone to PC via USB cable.
3. Open the command window from “fastboot” folder by pressing the “Shift” key + right mouse button and selecting “Open command window here”.
4. Now check if your device is connected by typing “fastboot devices” in command window. You should see device unique ID. If your phone isn’t recognized, then try to reinstall drivers on your PC.
5. Now we’ll continue with required commands to fix the gyro and sensor issues. Type the following lines:

   fastboot erase persist
   fastboot flash persist persist.img
   fastboot reboot

6. After the last command your phone should reboot and all sensors should work perfectly fine right now. But in case you’ve got “not allowed” message while trying to perform “erase” or “flash” commands, you can try to flash using the MiFlash tool and EDL mode, which is intended to be used with locked bootloader phones.

Locked bootloader method:

1. Go to folder with fastboot files and file the “flash_all.bat”, use the “Notepad ++” application and open the “flash_all.bat” as a text file.
2. Before the “fastboot reboot” line and another line: “fastboot %* flash persist %~dp0images\persist.img || @echo “Flash persist error” && exit /B 1″ (without quotes).
3. Now delete all other lines except the first three, the one you’ve just pasted and the last two.
4. Save changes and close the text editor.
5. Go to “images” folder and find “rawprogram0.xml” file, then open it with Notepad ++.
6. Find the “label=”persist”” line and and write “filename=”persist.img””.
7. Delete all other lines except “data”.
8. Save changes and close the text editor.
9. Turn off your device and boot into fastboot mode by pressing “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons at the same time, then connect your phone to PC via USB cable.
10. Open the command window from “fastboot” folder by pressing the “Shift” key + right mouse button and selecting “Open command window here”.
11. Now type “fastboot oem edl” to boot your phone into EDL (download) mode.
12. Open MiFlash tool and select the folder with fastboot files (ROM files should be also there).
13. Press “refresh” button and you should see your device with “com” port (in case your phone isn’t recognized try to install QDLoader HS-USB Driver).
14. Select “clean all” option.
15. Press “flash” to start flashing, in the result you’ll see “success” message.
16. Reboot your phone and gyroscope sensor should work flawlessly.

How to fix sensors and gyro issues on Redmi Note 4X Snapdragon

1. Download and unpack “Flash_Persist” folder to “C:\” drive: Flash_Persist_v3.rar
2. Download and install official MiFlashTool: MiFlashSetup_eng.msi
