Should You Get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 or the Pro Version?

The Form Factor

The Pro version touts better RAM, offering 3GB as opposed to the Note 3’s 2 GB; the Pro version also offers up to 32GB of internal storage when compared to the Note 3’s significantly smaller, 16GB. It should be noted, however, that both phones can accommodate expanded storage up to 128GB

Processor

The Redmi Note 3 offers a 1.4GHz hexa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor; while its Pro counterpart offers an improved 2.1GHz MediaTek Helio X20. This improvement lends to the Pro version being a bit snappier and more responsive to touch.

The Verdict?

Though the Pro version offers slightly better specs in terms of processing power, memory, and display quality, the Redmi Note 3 offers great functionality for the lower price of $250 compared to the Pro’s $350.

However, if you’re someone who likes to have a bit of a bulkier phone with faster processing power, the Pro version is definitely great if you can spend an extra $100.

First method:

2. Double tap on “Minimal ADB and Fastboot” shortcut and type the following commands:

   01.adb version
   02.adb devices
   03.adb reboot edl

3. Phone screen will turn black and red light is flashing, this means you’ve successfully booted your Redmi Note 3 Pro in EDL mode.
4. Now install Qualcomm drivers from “Qualcomm Driver” folder.

How to install TWRP Custom Recovery on Redmi Note 3 Pro

1. Download TWRP Custom Recovery (you can find download links for TWRP 3.1.1-1 below this part).
2. Boot your phone in fastboot mode (press and hold “Volume down” and “Power” buttons at the same time, until fastboot logo appears on the screen.

Flash, Fix Bootloop and Reset Redmi Note 3 Pro to Factory Settings

1. Download and install Chinese version of Mi PC Suite: MiInst.exe (don’t forget to confirm drivers installation).
2. Open Mi PC Suite.
3. Press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons for 3-5 seconds, after short vibration signal release the Power button and keep holding Volume Up until your phone boots into Recovery mode. Now connect your device to PC via USB cable.

How to fix SafetyNet on Redmi Note 3 Pro

1. Flash Nitrogen: Nitrogen_kenzo_UNROOT.zip
2. Install Magisk Manager.
3. Now using the Magisk Manager download the Magisk-v12.0.zip archive and install it via TWRP Custom Recovery.
4. In Magisk settings enable “Magisk Hide” and disable “Turn on BusyBox”.
5. To hide root from some apps, open “Magisk Manager” > Go to “Magisk Hide” and select required applications.

If this method didn’t worked, then try to download and install Xiaomi SafetyNet Fix via TWRP Custom Recovery. Also you can try installing another version of SafetyNet Fix module, this is version for Mi5, but will also work on Redmi Note 3 Pro.

Now, if the SafetyNet verification passes successfully, but some applications are still getting blocked, then may be changes to “build.prop” could help. You may try changing the parameter “ro.build.tags”. Change the value from “test-keys” to “release-keys”.

How to flash custom kernel on Redmi Note 3 Pro with TWRP

1. Download custom kernel you want to install and copy it to phone memory.
2. Boot into TWRP Custom Recovery and wipe “Cache” & “Dalvik Cache” (may not be necessary depending on kernel version).
3. Make backup of currently installed kernel version. Open “Backup” menu in TWRP, and select only “boot” partition. Swipe to confirm backup.
4. Now backup lib and lib64 folders. Use any file manager app to find and save these folders. If you want to downgrade back to stock kernel, you’ll need to restore these folders. Otherwise you can simply backup whole “system” and “boot” partition with TWRP (lib and lib64 folders are located in system partition).
